Hmm, Red Ranger, Lone Ranger, Texas Ranger, or just Ranger would be my guess as to what that said

Looks like a boy scout neckerchief slide also in the pic....maybe all lost by the same kid if you found them together. The toy cap gun would have once looked similar to this one..

There is one on the Bay right now....it's indeed a Ranger. Looks like it's a copy of the Hubley Texan Jr. Says from a guide that it's from 1945-50.

I can't help but notice that the suggested models all have a barrel that pivots down for loading, meaning the cylinder and the barrel seperate, where the one found seems to have been cast with those parts together. I assume it hade the flip-up side (the opposite side) for loading. And the details of the scrollwork is different. -I'm only nitpicking to try to forget about the snow falling outside

This is the closest I could find that matched the scrollwork. Leslie-Henry Ranger cap gun.

That looks good the only difference would be instead of a flat head screw it was a bolt in the O.P.'s pic but that could be on the other side of yours. The side not shown is what the O.P. found.IMO Nice I.D.
