yankee jim bound

Was all packed and ready, and the boss calls (the woman), with CHORES! .... going tomorrow .

Just got back, the river moved all her gold on me...didn't miss much

Hey 419 - you ever try gulches/creeks to the north of Bear river? (steephollow, greenhorn, negro hill areas)

Been in the Yankee jims neighborhood for last few days and my brother and I have have had some great days .. We can't say we are getting anything really chunky but the dust has been neverending...It's a long walk and the water is on the rise so it may be some time before we are able to get back to the area....

Yes, both steephollow crossing and greenhorn creek...lots of mercury

Was out today and worked the new bar, skunked! Tons of dust, but I throw that back in hopes it'll be bigger next year. ;-)

That dust you throwin back has gave me some record days!!!! Thanks!!!!

I think maybe you guys are spoiled! Here in Denver 50% of my take is -50 almost all the rest is between 20-50 mesh....someday I will come see you and learn what big gold looks like in the pan ;-)

Goin to mineral bar today. Bedrock or bust. Love to meet any of you guys if anyone's headed out today.

Do you have to pay for parking at Ponderosa? Is the road there paved or dirt?

In comparison to Bear, (digging in the right place) where would you get more gold? I get tons of fines at Bear (hardly any flakes), maybe less fines on the NFAR, but more flakes... Decisions, Decisions....

Joel: yes to pay for parking at ponderosa. Comparable to bear river on quantity, thin flake instead of flyspeck. Ponderosa is not paved

Yes ponderosa is now ten bucks for day use. Been down but I have never tried that area. Lots of daytrippers (too many people for me)

Quickpan: I am going to try to get out there today, but I got a lot of crap ro take care of first... you going to work upstream or downstream from the bridge?

Thinkin down but I've only been there a few times. Haven't trekked far from the bridge. I'm not as travelled as you and madmarshall. Any suggestions

Some nice exposed bedrock 100 - 200 yards downstream.

Just thought of something. Was talking to an old timer last night, he said pennyweight is paying again. Park at the last hairpin before the bridge (no parking fees before the bridge), take pennyweight trail down past where the creek feeds into the river about 50 to 100 yards. He said he pulled quite a few pickers out of bedrock cracks around there. I made no promises, as I have never worked that side of the river past that creek, BUT this guy has prospected this area for 25 years, his name is russ if you see a rather large bearded fellow down there

Just drove down, pennyweight trailhead os about a quarter mile up from the bridge, there's a white Toyota parked there now. People already out sluicin under the bridge.

My brother wanted to go to Mineral bar today but he may have changed mind (suffered a nastly little fall yesterday on our hike out..But I expect we will probaly be around the area this afternoon..Chris maybe I will see your new truck!!!Anyway Hope I get to go! I will be exploring most likely colfax side downriver trying to find a manageable way over that cliff face..If not then we decided to do the easy walk upriver foresthill side....

Mm: careful on that cliff face, it looks slick as hell after the floods scoured it clean!

I have heard of pennyweight. Is it a bar on the river? How long is the hike down?
