A few days ago I posted a picture of a new spot that I wanted to try out and was asking about how old everybody thought it was. Well, today I went to shepherdsville, kentucky and started looking there. I found an old map and thought what the heck. Well, everything was a business or concrete so I tried the old farm house instead. I wasted about 3 hours detecting in Shepherdsville and didn't even find a wheat penny, I couldn't believe it. So then I stopped at this house and got a weak signal at about 5 inches. I dug it up and nothing but a big tree root (way to big to cut). So I dug around it, and finally after about 8 inches into the ground I found a dirty coin and thought it was a quarter with it's size. Well I wiped it off and out came an 1820 Large Cent. The condition isn't the best but it is definately my oldest coin.

Nothing like "Old Copper" to get your heart pumping. I've only found one, a 1846 and it had a hole bored in it, I guess someone had it for a neckless. Great Find!!

nice find! they hide under tree roots like that sometimes. ;D i know its a challenge to get them out of there without scratching them, good job.

Awesome!
