I'm so pumped!!!!! I've been wanting to find one of these for a while but never thought I would. I know it's beat to hell, but it's mine!!! Muahaha. As you can see the back is flaking and I'd really like to save it as much as possible. I haven't done anything yet aside from rinse it with a little bit of water. Here's some other stuff I found today including another toasted copper.

The tag with the number 91 on it looks to be a cow tag to me. They hung around the cows neck with a chain with a mostly brass numbered tag like yours. Used to keep track of there cows.

Yeah, I figured that it was a cow-tag. When did they use tags like those? The only reason I ask is because the place where I found it is huge and used for different things over the years. I'm trying to date sections by what I find.

And I'm very happy to be in the club. Now, I'd really like to gain entry into GW Button club or the 1600's club. Maybe this year :P

I would not use the peroxide method on it. I've had mixed results using that method and it can do more harm than good. Don't try to clean it because the patina crust is brittle and once you flake it away, much detail is lost and you end up with a greyish blank of copper. Certainly get a 2x2 envelope for it, or plastic case (even better), so you can enjoy it without handling it.

W-O-W!!! My heartfelt C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S on a an extremely rare and historic find! :hello2:

Personally, I wouldn't attempt any cleaning, except maybe a warm water rinse. Or better yet, call a reputable coin expert, and get some expert advice.

NOW....tell me where you found that beauty, (exact directions, please) and then don't go there again!!

Again, kudos on a super find!

First you take a right at a big stone that looks like The Jolly Green Giant. Park your car and walk about 96 miles in the woods where you'll meet a man named Bosephus Von Iderstein. Give him an apple and two slaps across the face and he will let you pass. You'll reach a raging river, in order to cross, god Apollo requires you to throw you metal detect in and make a solemn swear to quit the hobby. Walk twenty ft down the bank of the river and you'll see a rock that says "CrazySlasher has been here." Under the rock is a gun with one bullet in the chamber. Put it to your head, and click the trigger.

Those are the best directions I can give, sorry.

Welcome to the club and a Big Congrats on your find.

That nova is definitely one most of us are looking for ! We can't control the condition of our finds though ! Be careful cleaning that one ! MaineRelic
