Went to the Pyrenees here in Victoria yesterday. Was a perfect day. No finds, but perfect.
Place there I have always loved, near no wind, birds happy and me happy. Found a big old fig tree with plenty of ripe figs. Got some no keeper finds and left them on a fence post in case anyone else wanted them. Great day regardless. The figs were super sweet and from an old goldfields diggers site from the 1800s.

Thanks mate. So many days are all about getting out and appreciating it all.
Today I went back to where I got those little bits of gold the other day.
Felt super confident and thats something anyone should always feel. Back yourself everytime.
No gold or relics but was an awesome day.
As I was digging out a bit of steel from a reef heap I noticed a small Ghecko Lizard. I thought when I saw it "oh no, I hurt it, I chopped off its tail!"
It was say 4 inches long and its skin was almost like transparent. They are night hunters though and even though we have quite a few that hunt on our outside windows at night for moths and things attracted to the light, this one was very different to all I have seen. Very thin transparent like skin, no tail! I love lizards and kept many as a kid. Never ever saw one or like this.
Now get this, so small like I said, mid-day, dug it out and it went ballistic! I heard it hissing and saw it jump about 6 inches off of the ground mouth open at me! It did it about a dozen times! Im ok, you are full on P.... Off at me chill, Im not going to kill you! It kept going nuts hissing, mouth open and jumping t me a 6.3 human! It was hilarious! I thought, ok chill out mate and put a big flat bit if slate from the reef over where it was to shield it from the sun.
I detected for about 2 more hours. Was happy I dug up several non dug targets but none were gold or relics.
I thought, ok little crazy guy...I want a picture of you as iv never seen one that looks like you or snake nor huge goanna that was as crazy mad as you, I gotta get some shots.
Here they are. Insane tiny guttsy lizard πŸ˜†
Asleep after I took the rock off. Check its skin out, almost transparent! Night hunter.

Looks like a neat place to roam. Hopefully you'll score that fist size nugget one day.

The little guy has some cute factor going for it, but with an attitude. :laughing7:
Lizards, Salamanders, and Skinks are pretty cool little creatures.
Best of luck on the next outing for a few yellow bugs.

Those lizards are truly amazing and brings back memories of my Dad taking us fishing in the rivers of Kansas.
We have not been back there in many many years but I still remember seeing the lizards along the river banks.I love your words on recalling the journey of your outings as that is a treasure in itself.
Wishing you the Best Always
Bill

Thanks guys, its a beautiful area, lots of bird life. Did find some great relics there yrs ago and why I drop back now n then. Got some nice gold there too yrs ago. I love it as its such a quiet place. You can go there and not hear a car, a plane and feel like your the only person on earth. πŸ‘πŸ™‚
