Yesterday's Finds and One Cool Token!

We went to our homestead site yesterday and did a little dirt fishin'. We came away with a few keepers including an awesome token. The token came from phosphate mining company town. The company was called the American Agricultural Chemical Company and the company town (now a ghost town) was called Pierce, FL. See pics below and thanks for looking!

Neat token, but 1 what? A penny is too small and a buck may have been a fair chunk of change. Company store tokens like that really make me think about the history involved.

It was good for one item of merchandise. It says it's for the commissary so I believe it means one item of food like in a cafeteria (I think). Pierce, FL was in existence from about 1906 until the thirties when the labor unions broke up the company towns.

Thanks for replying!
