Got out for a bit yesterday to some new area's. On the way to 1 site I came across this mound & low & behold a Colonial site. It must have been hit hard a long time ago as targets were almost non-existent, except a little 1'x1' area.

The spoon was about 3"down & the button was under the spoon off to the side. 1 more swipe of the coil produced the partial spoon bowl.

The dirt was rich & dark with lots of clam shell fragments intermixed, which is a good sign. Also spotted this little part of what I believe is a Tea cup with a nice pattern on it.

Also dug up a tooth of some sort under a part of a cook pot.

I believe your button is of the "cut-steel" variety with a nice openwork design. These primarily dated from 1770 to about 1800. Nice one!

Interesting button . Early habitation finds . Your site is worthy of a few more visits ,,,,,,,,
