Yesterday morning I started the day looking at the posts on treasurenet.I was especially interested the posts with large silver.Little did I know that I was going to havea new first fo me.I arrived at the park where I have pulled 3 Large cents prior.I found a good starting point and commenced to doing the worst grid (I kept veering to the left all day).I searched maybe 10 feet from my starting point and bam.I found a large copper.I have in olive oil now cant id the coin yet,but it is larger than the 1856 I pulled 2 weeks ago.Half way through the hunt I found a nice sterling dove pendant with the words "confirmed in christ".About an hour later I pulled this very thin disc with a small hole in it.I put it in my pouch not knowing what I had yet.I kept up the hunt until a litttle after 4 pm.I wanted to end at this tree so I had a good starting point next time.Wouldnt you know it there was a nice 1924 Buffalo nickel there.when I got home I commenced to looking through my pouch.I got to the little dics and I rinsed it lightly.I could see the word Hispana and Carolus IIII. I got very excited I had to use 2 mag glasses at the same time to get more.I then noticed a shield flanked by 2 columns with a crown on top of the shield.I saw a small nick on the edge and silver shown through. After a little soaking in peroxide I managed the first 2 digits of a date definately 17??.It is slightly larger than a dime.I looked online using all the facts I had to that point so far>It turns out to be a spanish 1/2 reale my first spanish silver and my oldest coin to date.I dont know if i should continue cleaning or where (if i should)take the coin for further conservation.
