Well I tried the creek. I have allot of respect for creek hunters now. You can keep it I almost fell I dont know how many times due to slippery rocks. There is millions of rocks in a creek. I found some pottery shards but no stone. I found some geofacts but that was it. That is the toughest hunting I do believe. Hope others are finding some good ones. Ill show all of my pottery from the last month.
Do you think they made the pottery on the water banks?

Lol...love it. I've never found the first artifact in the creeks here but I still walk them regularly because it takes me back to my childhood. There is an art to creek hopping and thankfully I grew up playing in the mountain streams here so I'm gifted at creek hunting. Found an amazing old jug, lots of crazy geofacts but no definitive artifacts.

All that pottery you would think there would be some flint there.

I did find 1 worn out reduction flake shaped like a knife and a big piece of red orcher stone shaped in a square. Thought it was a red brick but now that it has almost dried out it comes off on your hands. So for 3 hours I guess it wasnt too bad. I would of liked to find a point though.

nice finds congrats HH

I'v tried the creeks around here and had little success. With the pottery you are finding something should turn up.

Good finds Rock. That pottery will get pushed further down the creek than the flint. You are getting close to the trash pit on the bank. When you find that you wont ever go much further

Nice pottery, looks like you're on the right track... But yeah, you need to be careful when walking on slippery rocks and stuff. But I get injured way more frequently in the "concrete jungle" than out in the wild, LOL.

I usually walk the adjacent fields (or wherever there is erosion) around creeks. Occasionally I find artifacts in the creeks though. I think people believe that most sites are along major rivers, but from my experience small creeks were used much more frequently by prehistoric man, especially nomadic hunter-gatherers. Small creeks were great places to live, hunt, bathe, camp, etc. I've found artifacts along just about every creek I've walked... The hardest part is finding good erosion though.

I still have a bit more to walk. I figured it was washed down a ways. Its all private property out there. Both sides of the creek.
