Folks when I tell you I dig hard to find sites in my area, I really go after it. Well it has paid off yet again, I found a site not to far from where I work and well it looked like it would be the perfect spot to have some kind of defensive position / Signal corp / Lookout Post, something. So after 5 months of finding no one to talk to about the area, I just stopped and talk to a cemetery care taker, and BAM come to find out he takes care of not only the cemetery but 43 acres of undeveloped property right smack in the middle of a huge development.

Well it has been a some of the best hunting we have had in about two years. Last Saturday by the end of the day I had 57, Tony had 65 and Gerry had 67. We hurt so bad by the end of the day that we could hardly stand, everywhere we moved was a bullet, I kid you not and we have only hit 5% of the place.

Tony's bullets are the ones with the red background mine are the ones with the keyboard showing. Gerry has not provided me with any images.

We also found 3 perfect New York Staff buttons, coat size. I found a Schenkel Sheel Frag and Tony found the remains of a McClellan Saddle, or atleast the brass parts.

An AWESOME DAY.

Soooooooo after a long very hard hunt on Saturday, which by the way has taken me 2 days to recover from the sun burn and exhaustion. We found another 150+ bullets in the same area, they just keep popping out. I will post more images of the bullets we found from this last trip, once i clean them up, just been to tired to do anything.

And yet oddly enough only one small piece of brass which came in the form of a button back. No other brass, so this leads me to think that where we are finding bullets is where they had a defensive position set up. And that the main camp is further behind us which is 35 acres of woods that are very thick and will require us to wait until winter to hunt.

We also got permission to hunt the home sites on the hills right next to where we are hunting now. The land owners came to use and said we could hunt, and that over the years they have found a bullet here and there on their properties.

The funny thing is is when then and owner gave us permission I actually looked around waiting for lighting to strike us. So hopefully we will find some brass on those hills. I promise to have some images for you to see of all the bullets we found on three separate Saturdays.

John
