You guys judge - 4 relatively modern pennies in a humble park or a permission that yielded but nails & then owner shooes us off?

What’s better? The normal modern park that yields the usual relatively modern coin, or the permission that yields almost nothing, it started well though, a nice renter gave me & a buddy permission but lately this “owner” kicks us off and not too diplomatically. We found nails and the best thing was a game token at that permission. In the photos the 4 coins are ‘74 & ‘79 US pennies and an ‘85 & ‘89 Cad that were found quickly and conveniently in a very “uninteresting”but quite accessible park ———the nails & screws were also found today at a “permission” a word that carries a lot of weight, but was mainly false hope? I find permissions are over-rated after this incident. What does the metal detecting forum, you guys, think?

The owner has every right to trespass you. However, I think getting permission from the renter has you covered.👍🏻 I’ve dealt with the same thing. I hunt long gone houses in ag fields. Many farms have absentee landowners. I received permission from the person that farms the ground, only to have it rescinded when the owner found out. Not much you can do except go down the road and knock on the next door.🤷🏼

Thank you for sharing your “2 cents “, makes sense to establish trust with the permission giver and serving the community as well.

One other thing to remember is that you are capable of finding the property stakes, the iron ones. More than once, I have saved the homeowner the cost of hiring a surveyor to locate the property pins/steaks to compare with the town/county plot map.

I haven’t done that but I did report to the owner a forgotten location of a water main.

Metalman2024 , Im very sorry this happened to you but in all reality I believe its better to keep certain things to yourself . In this world with how folks are Unless the landowner specifically asks me to search for a certain item they lost I would keep the knowledge of better finds to myself ..
