I headed back for a 4hr hunt today to a site I received permission to hunt at the beginning of October. A few weeks ago at this location I found a British Military Horse Cheek Boss, one of two that went to the branch cheek steel bit of the horse… well today I found its mate! :o I also found another Isaac Campbell Knapsack Hook. Some of my favourite finds today were a small baby picture in a pendant, a Lesney Farm Tractor and a collection of ladies compacts. I have included a picture of the martingale before and after I gave it a coat of beeswax & mineral oil, which can easily be removed with dish soap and water. :tongue3:

This site has me really stumped though as to why I’ve only found modern coins here? :icon_scratch: An old coin would have really topped off today and made it a great day, although I can’t complain too much! :laughing7:

This is my third British Military Martingale find since August, here’s a pic of all three!

Thanks very much for looking,
Dave

Wow Dave. You've become the Martingale specialist! Looks like a nice big site that should provide you with hours of detecting. Congrats!

There certainly will be more there, but not likely any more martingales! :laughing7:

Here are a couple of pics of how they mounted to the cheek boss bit.

Take care buddy,
Dave

I heard somewhere, good things come in threes

I guess that's a good thing
Congratulations on that one too, you seem to be the only person finding these things, you must have a horseshoe stuck somewhere up there

I guess you are single handily making them less rare!

Well if there is two per bit....by my count the site owes him one more!

Like many others I'm sure, I had to look at the date of the post. :laughing7:

Like Iron Patch said, I was like "haven't I read this?". That is pretty cool to find three of those beauties. Sorry If I missed it, but what's the date on those?

I checked the previous banner posts to make sure I wasn't seeing a double, but actually more than one martingale and then I saw the picture showing 3 together.

I guess I learned something, I always thought that martingales are the piece that fits on the the horses chest and a bit boss fit on each side of the bit.

Man, that's just CRAZY. And am I the only one thinking, "Whoa. That site doesn't owe him a darn THING!!"??

Very cool finds. No coins? Hmmmmmmm.....??? Maybe look for a place where they mounted their horses and wagons....a hitching post...

Yes, I had to check the date of this post lol... Again another wonderful find, congrats!

Congrats on another amazing find. Yup I was one of those who looked at the date.

Thanks very much Dave!

Hey, thanks that was really helpful .Never knew that's where they mounted.
The bit cleaned up nicely too.
What a spot!

I'll throw myself in the ring also for date checking this post, TWICE! This is really cool you finding the matching badge at the site.
Now did you ever think that there would be the other one there, even a fleeting thought, also how far apart were they at the site?
We must shop at the same location to have a jar of Andy's beeswax,or he must around a lot. :laughing7:
