I believe its silver plated. Found at an early 1800s cellar hole. The variety of finds makes it difficult to ID the date of certain things. This buckle being one of those things. Third photo will give some size reference. Wondering the age & use...belt buckle or was it for something else? Thanks in advance! 30659121251_1a49abb9f0_z.jpg30659118891_82c35bb471_z.jpg30110322774_0be9571a0f_z.jpg

looks like a woman's sash buckle. at least from your photos, it appears to be nickle plated. my personal opinion is that it dates to around 1890-1900

Thank You! I never considered nickel plating...nor researching sash buckles. Thanks again for the help!

It is a 'Gibson Girl' sash buckle. 1890 - 1910.
