I realize the guy had a couple of mental problems, but why would he choose to kill kids in a school.

Think of it this way,its good shock value for the anti gun nuts.Not much shock value when adults kill adults now is there,it happens everyday.What doesnt happen everyday is an adult killing 20 little kids.Points to ponder.

Does anyone else think that this might be a criminal act perpetrated to affect the Second Ammendment?

Remember: I said CRIMINAL, not political. Please leave politics out of it. Yes, I understand that some feel it may be political, but actually such behavior would be an effort to subvert the law via a criminal act or many criminal acts. The criminal acts, therefore, would not be political acts but rather violation of the law and punishable by a court of law. Under those terms, then yes, discussion should continue.

If it begins to lean political, I will personally ask TH to close this thread.

Of course,but the hard part is not to try to tie one with the other.When in fact the two would be tied together anyway.If its all part of the agenda then it is linked no matter how you look at it.That would be the hard part ,separating the two.

This is true, but when you consider it as a legal matter and leave politics out of the equation, then it becomes a matter of much greater weight.

I am a person who does not find any part of mainstream politics today to be to my liking.

I do, however, have a strong sense of right and wrong --- which to me, trumps ANY political affiliation.

Similarly though, this has happened while both parties are in power so it isn't political . . . it's moral or immoral , right or wrong . . . legal or illegal.

I believe that there are forces at work to turn public opinion such that it attempts to convince them to shred the Second Amendment and its protections under law. I believe that an examination of the so called "coincidences" bears that out.

I submit that the posts above daves is a prime example of part of what's wrong with our country.

I hate to be so harsh, but my inbox is full of the most fantastic examples of reality-avoidance I've ever seen.

I think we all have to be responsible citizens, and that means we have a responsibility to have our heads on straight. These poor people are our friends and neighbors in a larger sense, and could be in fact, perish the thought. Being a Ben Franklin bad example won't cut it any more.

exactly who is trying to disarm the American public? Seriously, leave out the UN stuff. There are over 300 million guns in the hands of private citizens here in the good old U.S.of A. I've read th Brady bill, I get emails constantly from the NRA, but I've yet to see any bills, or legislation introduced that require turning in of firearms, in any way shape or form.

Could you possibly tell us all how this murder of 20 kids and 8 adults could have been an orchestrated program. Do give FACTS instead of suppositons or assumations.

Do you really believe those deaths or the ones in Virginia or Aurora, or Columbine, or wherever are a plot to take your guns?

To me it is obvious what is the main influence on mass shootings. We have a constant stream of movies and TV shows that are full of shooting and killing. It is entertainment. They have even shown killing each other as comedy. Turn on the TV and what do you see? Show after show dedicated to people killing each other. Now add all the games people play on their computers. Killing people is now a competition. Whoever has the most kills wins. The computer games have gotten more and more realistic. People especially kids are becoming desensitized to seeing people dying. The special effects are so good it all looks like the real thing.

Now add the fact that so many people think that when they die there is no hell waiting for them as punishment for their evil deeds and that there is no price to pay. Sad, sorry life? Take out innocent people on your way out. We need to start convincing everyone that there is a special place that is very, very hot waiting for them if they commit evil deeds. In fact there is a reserved section for people that kill or harm kids. I would describe on here what that place would be like but I might offend someone.

There is no easy answer. This is the price we are paying for allowing the morals and right from wrong teaching that a lot of us grew up with to be no longer ENFORCED on children as they grow up. I have no children, I have dogs. They are 100% obedient as they know that if they disobey me there will be a price to pay. Five of my dogs are around or over 200 pound English mastiffs. I trust them with my life. If people were more like dogs the world would be a much better, safer place.

What We the moderators, ( if I can speak for all) have a problem with, is turning this tragedy into a Circus, just like the media has.

I'm always up for a good conspiracy, like the one where they pretended

LOSS OF LOVE (KHOOBA)

There are 3 ways ALL perceive the world, through the eyes of love, anger, or fear. Those that can do this type thing have most definantly lost love of self and others.

I use the Aramaic word Khooba to define a MINDSET that is not taught in this country. It is a mindset that: for everything you perceive with your 5 senses, you are seeking and looking for the GOOD in it, before you acknowledge or seek out the negative in something. IT IS the highest form of Love to have, for SELF, for NEIGHBOR, and for whatever one may wish to deem as _ _ _.

It seems to me, imho, that many in this country are selfish and easily led by media and other sources, towards that which does not fulfill; the mansion house, the expensive car, the designer clothes....... Once these things are or are not obtained, most find thay are still lacking......... something......... they do not know what.
What they lack is LOVE (KHOOBA).
People are just mean, nowadays. They don't take time to care, nourish, and/or instruct properly, there own selves, much less their childrens (to busy chasing that dream). Thus we deem kids in need of medication and punishment, because most are to sorry, lazy, or selfish, to do the actual work of Love and proper teachings.
YES - moral compasses are missing in this society. They are missing because they are not instilled and upheld, by the good proper people in this country (most of whom live in fear). No no no, can't instruct anothers child, you'll get shot or hurt.

When our childrens see, adults have no time for them, and their teachers only want the day to be over, so they can be done with them, they lose Love of self, they are SHOWN they do not matter, no one cares. Once Love of self is lost, how can one have Love for another? They crawl back into the violent video games(the perfect babysitter-NOT), they fill their heads with media misconceptions of what they THINK the world should be, and when the REALITY of it is not what they want or desire, they flip out.

Insanity is a natural response to an un-natural world. Guns are not evil or good, PEOPLE ARE!
It is not a devil, god, gun, evil, or the boogieman doing any of this, IT IS PEOPLE!
When will we all start to live proper Love and instruct our children to see their worlds through the eyes of proper Love?
Perhaps only, when we have had enough, of what anger and fear is doing to us ALL!

I know most here think me to be some hippie-love-and-roses-goodness-it-will-always-be.......
I choose to live in the mindset of Khooba, because I hate hate! I do not fear anger and fear. I am not angry at fear and anger. I hate hate. Seems most of the world loves it though. Good luck with that world.
