Great pics guys! And a hilarious way to present them too!! :o

From a guy that is not even remotley close to anything Spanish (etc) I appreciate it. Wait, on second thought, I dated a Spanish girl once and have carnal knowledge... does that count? :icon_king:

I see hearts sometimes

I see hearts all the time. My girlfriend collects natural heart-shaped rocks - she's got them all over the yard. A local artist here created a cairn sculpture consisting of about 50 heart-shaped natural rocks. Many looked perfect. These things are very common if you're looking for them. Yours is a nice one - it'd look good in the yard.

Bob,

That blackrock heart is in line with several markers.
That is an awesome pointer,,, it could direct you to some interesting things.

Knowing that this part of the country is and can be a rather dangerous place...
here is a snake that has been stacked to warn the traveler of certain danger that awaits up canyon .

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Not sure what these are for sure they are weathered really bad, and one has fallen down.
But it looks like someone had their ducks all in a row once.

Bob,

That is right at the point where the canyon branches join.
Looks like it might lead you up the big one to the left.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Dsty,

They were carved out of the black rock from the formation below the level on which they sit.
left in a rough shape the weather has really beat them up.
They are so deteriorated one can only guess what they are.

There are no smelting operations around or indications of smelting near here to indicate this was anything more than an odd trail sign.
The stacked snake is about 40 yards up from it.

Stay safe

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Here is a picture from a panel of petroglyphs that shows the Spanish and Indian interaction, the picture shows that they did get along and even woked together.
1, circle far left, an armored man on an armored horse.

2, small circle center, an indian on horseback. (note the long headdress)

3, Long circle on the right, men on horseback possibly Spanish (no headdresses)

I think it very interesting to note the importance given the Spanish armor by the Indian artist.
