Hey guys,

hope you are having a great Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Hunted all day yesterday except for dinner :) and hunted this morning.

Found the button without the back and the musket ball yesterday. My FIRST target dug today, I found the C.S.A. Plate! I ran about a tenth of a mile, up hill back inside to the house and woke everyone up. Man, I was out of breath but HAPPYYYYYYYY!!! Also found some more melted lead and an Eagle Button with a root grown inside the shank. very unique.

I told dad last night that when I find one of the buckles that I'd quit.

Did I quit? No way! I want moreeEEe!!!

Man what a find, I'm happy just to see someone dig one of those. Sure beats them just rotting away in the ground. Congratulations. Tsgman

Couldn't agree more. Saving history, one find at a time.

I'm telling you, we should be praised and not despised for doing this...our government bureaucrats have it backwards.

Re: CIVIL WAR FINDS + HUGE SURPRISE!!!

Great find SCT,It is rare to find one w/all the hooks still intact!I found an 1861 New Hampshire state malitia buckle here in maine and I just about lost it when I pulled it out of the ground!!!All the hooks were still intact and in excellent condition.Unfortunatly like a fool I needed the money and sold it on the internet, got $850 for it and the guy I sold it to makes replica's of all the civil war era buckles so he also gave me two replicas, one to wear on a modern belt and one original style but I'm still kicking myself for selling it but we do what we have to do,but you can never get it back after you let it go so keep that in mind.Yours being a CSA is probably worth significantly more than mine was but think long and hard if you ever debate selling it and once again congrats!!!

Re: CIVIL WAR FINDS + HUGE SURPRISE!!!

I'm gonna have to take that 2500 thing off that pic, please dont respond to this unless to me personally, THIS IS S.C.'s thread, and he deserves respect for the great find, I dont care if this buckle is fake or real undoubtedly this was the type scenario any vet faced and faces daily, Thats my point no argument intended. Thank you.
And way to Go S.C. I have found some Confederate taring grounds here in Texas and am felling lucky my partner pulled out a Mass, volunteer button this weekend (imagine here in Texas).
