I've been meaning to post these sooner, but due to computer difficulties decided to wait.
Canewrap will post the pics for me hopefully today.

We've been hunting an area in North Alabama in search of a large camp. I think that we have found a couple of schirmish sites, but so far we haven't found the main camp.
These finds represent probably about 10 hours of hunting and most were found in an area about 50' x 250'.
Here's the count so far:
approximately 60 bullets of mixed variety including an awful lot of pistol balls
1 .58 cal. bavarian
1 .58 cal baby belgian bullet ($$$$)
2 spencer cartridges
1 carbine sling tip
1 complete spencer cartridge with a hole on both sides of the rim. This actually had a rotted piece of leather through it when I found it. Must have been a necklace.
2 flat buttons
1 carved bullet. Looks like someone may have tried to make some dice at one time
2 pocket knives

Oh, I also found a .31 cal 1849 colt pocket revolver!!! You probably can't tell from the pics that will be posted, but you can still see the slots on every screw and it is complete right down to the front sight. Even has about 20% of the wood remaining. I plan on ordering a complete history of it from Colt as the S/N is still very visible.
A lot of this area is unhuntable now due to the thick growth. I cant wait for fall!!!!!
We are so grateful for this site. The landowners have given us exclusive and totally unrestricted permission to search the 220 acres. We even have a backhoe available to us if we need it!
Hopefully, my buddy Canewrap will post the pics today.

Great finds my friends, great pictures too. It's always nice to see CW relics brought up before they just turn to dust. Good luck on the history of the Colt! We have a few camp and battle sites over here in Oklahoma that have given up some nice finds too. HH

Re: Civil War items from the last couple of weeks

Thanks for posting the pics for me Cane. They turned out better than expected!!
Also, Thanks everyone for all of the comments on these finds. I really got lucky on the revolver. I am using a minelab x-terra 70 which is terrible for relics but awesome for coins. kind of an iffy signal, but I dug it and sure am glad that I did!!!
After canewrap laft today, I went out for a few minutes where the revolver was found and got another three ringer too!

Re: Civil War items from the last couple of weeks (PICS ADDED!!!!)

Thanks again,
I can't even describe the rush that I got. I was digging under a patch of briars, so I couldn't even look into the hole. I felt around with my fingers and felt the triggerguard. when I felt the trigger inside, I KNEW what it was!!!! that's when the frenzy began!

a .31 cal 1849 colt pistol form the civil war--wow didn't get much better that---the owner to that weapon might be nearby--- those folks didn't like to lose their guns ----only if badly wounded or killed or ran off in a surprise type attack would that gun be left behind----odd that it didn't get picked up after the "battle"---must have been brush or something covering it----like I said a wonderful find--- I hope the answer from colt comes back to the "original" owners name--- if so see if you can find the group he "belonged to"---to "properly place" a item like that "in history" as to who had it when and where they were from and if they died or were wounded in the battle would be unreal--it really makes "history" live & breath again---Ivan

Morgan70,
Fantastic finds & post! That pistol is one of the best finds I've seen so far.
Great job, and I wish you luck on the rest of the property.
Congrats,
