Finding wheats, but no silver Why?

I seen lots of posts about people finding wheats, but no silver. Why is this? Did people be more careful with the silver dimes? Did they just have more pennies in their pockets to lose? Where they shinny and spotted and picked up? Did animals such as crows or pack rats grab them up? Could there be other explainations?

The reason there are so few silvers is because you already dug most of it! :(

Actually, I think for the last 50 years or so people rarely bother to pick up pennies. Now a nickle, dime, etc., that they'll bother with.

I remember many times back in the early 60's we'd just give pennies a toss. Back then most were wheats.
