I was told copper 1943 pennies were worth something. How about in this shape.? Found in my back yard... Hard to see without a magnifine glass but I'm 100% it's 1943 and will not stick to magnet
The picture is complete dog horse. But if it is a 43 copper, you should probably start sweating and breathing heavily. However, it could also be a 48 or 45. Get a picture taken in focus and a little cleaner and we'll talk.
No expert here, but comparing the photo to some online images of actual 1943 pennies, the '3' does not look right - at least not from the photo sumitted so far. It appears the top part of the '3' is made of two straight segments, which does not seem to be characteristic of authentic specimens. In addition the lower segment of the '3' should extend well below the other numbers. That also is not apparent in the submitted photo. Maybe a doctored 1945?
I don't know who would counterfeit it then bury it? I found it in a field with a few other wheat cent 1940, 1944, 1951 and a 1939 nickel. I never get my hopes up just wouldn't make since for a fake to be dug like that.
Lpetite, I am not saying it is a fake, all I am saying is that from what can be discerned from your photo, it does not seem to have some expected attributes. Maybe it's a problem with the photo. Go online and search for 1943 copper penny images and see if it seems to match. I would not recommend cleaning the coin or doing anything to it except maybe trying to take an even better photo with some different lighting angles. If it is authentic, you could diminish the value by cleaning. Have it evaluated by an expert.
That would be the greatest find I have seen. However, if u look at the bottom of the three. On its it ends right w the bottom of the four. On the actual it actually go alittle further then the bottom of the four. It does look copper so I'm going to have to say counterfeit. your pic is hard to see though. Still even if counterfeit I think that's an awesome find. I know I woulda been shitting myself haha
Someone doctored a 1947 (or maybe a 1945) wheatie. Definitely done a long time ago, though. The top of the "3" should be curved and not straight across (as scott565 pointed out).
I think it is a 1947, the corrosion is just making it look a bit like a three. This is one where you can't take any chances though, if you think it is a three then I would have the coin looked at in person, DON'T CLEAN IT, you need to have it authenticated, no question. That would be too valuable of a coin to take any chances.
it would be my luck to find a 43 in that shape.
because I doubt any grading service will touch it in that condition.
however, If it were mine, I'd ebay it "as is" & let the chips fall
as Ebay may be the only place it will have value as a "Possible 43".
Would be cool to get a couple rich Gamblers running it to 200 grand
