Stepped right into it up to my ears today. The same feeling many years later finding my second 1789 George Washington inaugural button. After all the dandy buttons I have found without a glimpse of an eagle I thought the same with this one as the reverse was facing me when I pointed it out of the hole. Then I see chicken legs and a star and was GW the rest of the day. Loving my hobby. The GW is a, WI 12 B, R5. Intact loop. The small decorative button has a drilled loop. Tombac buttons & smalls.

Wow, that is in awesome shape you lucky dog!!

Holy F***! That thing looks nearly undug. Gotta go banner too. Awesome job!!

Thanks. Finding artifacts in sugar sand in South Jersey leaves everything looking that way unless fertilizer was used. My first field was unfertilized every button and coin looked that way including my first GW.

Mine took 7 years. Hope I don't have to wait that long again. One a year would be great...

One a year? I would be happy with one period. 17 1/2 years I still haven’t found one and considering where I am I probably never will.

All that aside, that is a gorgeous button. I have never seen a GW posted that looks that nice. I vote banner. Congratulations and keep swingin.

Man what a find! I’ve been living over in Germany for 17 years. Although we have great finds as well as very old ones, I’m jealous [emoji41]. Congrats !

WTG on the find of a lifetime!

Incredible find! Huge congrats on the GW, it is a beauty!

Congrats on the amazing GW button. Its a find of a lifetime and would be the center piece of any collection! Amazing condition too!

Thank you Sir. It was a stunner 10 minutes into my hunt. Last year a small tree and thorns prevented me from swinging over it, my coil was literally inches away. I'm jealous that you Sir
have the opportunity to find some very old stuff. Thank you for serving our country...

I'm putting a comment up to keep this thing in the recent posts. I think it's banner worthy!

Had to add this pic. The sun had come out and this inaugural had to see the light. Still excited to have dug it.

Amazing find man! Banner for sure, just when you think the site was hunted out too. Always more treasure to be found

Thanks Zach... Glad you got a chance to see it. Wonderful adrenaline rush. Distracted me through out the rest of the day, had to keep taking out the Precious.
