Me and my big mouth got me the permission to hunt the house and me and my big mouth is causing me to loose some good finds.

Recon at it's best.....

Saw this beauty and went up and rang the bell.

Women answers the door. Introduced myself and explained what I wanted to do.

Reluctant at first but I said she can see all the finds and pick some and I will put them in a small display for her.

She said ok..

She sure did pick the good finds.

Losing half the good finds. ( Told her I'm keeping the 1892-O  since it is now my oldest dime. She agreed on that.

OH WELL !!!!

Got a bunch of Wheat's (10 ) other junk too..

Thought I'd show the best stuff.

No time like the present time to ask permission.

What can one say....NO or YES  In this case... YES but I messed up!!!!!

Lost a  silver rosie but I know where I dropped it so I have to head back to get it soon.

I also want to get some other " relic's " or  " junk " for the display....

Thanks for looking..                   Bob

I don't see it as the same as going through your attic. The stuff buried in the yard isn't going to be worth much at all...If someone I let dig in my yard and they found some old coins I'd let them keep everything. The coins aren't worth all that much anyways and I did give them permission in the first place.

It seems like someone asking permission to deer hunt your land, then asking the guy for the antlers. If you don't want someone going through your stuff and claiming anything, don't allow the permission. I understand the good will of the hunters, but it's the owners that want stuff that isn't valuable that gets me. It's value is to the person finding the stuff, not someone claiming it.

Just my opinion.

I really like that analogy and do agree with it.

I must be "old school". Back when I hunted rabbit and pheasant in Iowa, we always offered the farmer a dressed bird or rabbit as a "thank you" for letting us hunt his land.

Oh well, times change.

Read the post

I'm happy to do what I did.

I still don't understand why owners would want to take your finds. I know it's their property, but you found the stuff. It just strikes me as greedy and petty. It's not like it was worth a fortune...I don't get why some people are like that.

Try doing some time ,you might not come off as being that greedy

I'm not saying you were greedy if that's the way you took it...On the contrary, I admire what you did and can tell that you have some talent in making that display. I don't feel that I'm greedy myself as I have assisted in chores and clean-up of land that I have been granted permission to hunt on.
I just think that it's strange to me that land owners want to take something from you when they granted the permission in the first place. That's just how I feel about it, we all have different views.
