after seeing three of these pulled up just a few feet from me by detecting buddies these last half a dozen years now . i finally got mine (wwwwaaaahhhhhhoooooo) and had to share .Dan
Congrats on an incredible find and making the banner!! I also saw National Treasure the other night and it's neat to see the real deal here on the forum.

What a Fantastic find, I can't believe the shape it is in. It must have been in a place that never had
been worked by a farmer. Other wise the fertilizer would have ruined it.
thanks everyone for the info some of you shared and thank you for being put on the banner .
the button does not have a back shank and was found in very sandy soil that had good drainage.the site has been detected very hard and there are very few targets to find so you have to be creative and have alot of patience when searching to find anything but the items you do find there are in really nice shape . thanks again Dan
Dan, thanks for posting on dfxonly and getting me to check in here (been slacking for several days).
PHENOMENAL! I had only seen the Eagle variety a few times here. Glad the ground was good to this beauty!
I get goose-pimply finding a 120-yr-old sleigh bell; it'd prob. kill me if I dug up an Inaugural button.
I know you're having a ball with this, as well you should. Congratulations!
LO O T E R !!!! Criminal, lousy detectorist defiler. Put it back in the ground for the Archaeologists to find someday ?? You must realize that you have ruined an archaeological site??
One which would never have been found?
Sheehs, this is a prime example WHY detectorists should be allowed reasonable rights in detecting. If It were up to many of the Archaeologists, and present laws, it would never have been found.
