Vince, sorry that you are feeling that way. I hope you stay around, I know I will miss your posts and your personality.

I love this forum for multiple reasons:

1. I learn something new about this hobby daily from reading posts.

2. I find it a friendly place to meet others who have the same interests.

3. I enjoy seeing what others have found.

I am lucky to have gotten a banner, but it is not why I hunt or post my finds. Of course being noticed for a great find does feel good, especially since you are nominated by your peers. I am sorry that the world is not always fair and that yes us Yanks do place more emphasis on our own coinage. Just think you are in an area where 1000 year old coins are not as rare of a find as some coins minted in the United States.

I love your videos, and am awed by how well you photograph and post your finds. :notworthy:

I will still consider you a good friend whether you stay or go.

Now pick yourself back up and go find something amazing that will knock our sock off!!!!:headbang:

Hmmm ... ***AARC realizes he has no banners***

Um hey while on the subject...
IF I just happen to loose something that I found long ago...
Perhaps take it for a walk...
And drop on the ground...
Then step on it and kick dirt on it....
ALL by accident of course...
Then...
Come back later... even days...
then find it again...
And photo me getting it...
Will this count as a banner ?

I mean ...
I would "technically" be "finding" it... ***AHEM-Ahgain***
:P

Why go to that much trouble? There have been others in the past with completely fake "finds" make it to the banner wall. :laughing7:

I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm sure nobody meant for you to be disregarded.
This forum is the most populated forum I've been on in 12 years.
You have to be patient, and stay on top of the posts.

Sure, I will do.

Thanks.

It's a American Forum...simple. American finds take first place because that's what most posters are interested in, you just have to go with the flow and be thankful for the replies you do get.

SS

It sounds like you're speaking from experience! I'm thankful not only for the replies but also for the time they dedicate to my posts.

Vince, I didn't see your find either.

I'm certain you received some Banner votes, and I'm not sure how the Admins weigh those votes. I'd be interested in knowing just how they judge banners, i.e. does it take 10 votes, etc.

Keep at it my friend! I don't believe I'll ever get a Banner myself. But just finding something which makes me wiggle with delight is all I need. Kinda like finding a zinc cent is just another zinc cent. You find a dozen of them first, and then you find a clad quarter which actually seemed worth digging.

You found that hammered silver! I probably never will, but that's okay. A silver ring worth $2.00 is fine with me - though I'd really rather find a gold one :)

You're right mate. I think the same way.

I don't compare myself to Silver Searcher and Crusader. They are special cases but nevertheless Cru has always been active on my posts. I'm please that you brought them up. They are professional MD's and have seen and found alot of ancient stuff but they still value and comment on other people's findings. This should be a good example.

Vince it isn't true, look at all the Banners Crusader has received or Silver Searcher has received and both of them are in Europe.. We have had many banners from Europe..

Maybe the Mods could consider a forum for finds of a foreign origin.
I know there are a lot of countries that come here and maybe their finds would get more
notice by people that find similar treasures.

said the man with 11 Banners :tongue3:

yes I agree there seems to be a leaning towards a Few relics & coins & most of those are Amercan.
but you forget .. I don't have those chauvinistic tendencies to think one country,
or its relics
and coins are better then another's .
But I don't like repetitiveness either .

Monty Python said it best...

"and Now for something Completely Different ! "

hint Hint :unhappysmiley:

it's actually very simple . see it ! Like it ! Vote for it !
& get my attention that way. Not in Complaint posts

Maybe that coin was the only chance for me to receive a banner. :dontknow:

Vince, I am here for the fun and knowledge of others. However, I love to see historical items, for me it does not matter where they come from. I am station in Germany and I had found a lot of German historical items from the1700 and Russian coin. Yes a 1875 Russian coin. I have destroy 4 old coins because my lack of knowledge on them but still happy to go out there and hunt for whatever it comes. I am happy that u had found that coin, not everyone have that kind of luck.

That's why I'm here too, coz I've found a lot of information here and a lot of interesting stuff and experiences from other people. I didn't know that you could clean coins with Peroxyde water and I learned it here. I upload my findings here to share them with everyone and to feel like a real participant in this forum. Thank you for your support.

The thing about coins is ... errrr let me restart... THE thing is...

ITs all about rare.
Coins are funny... always has amazed me how a 1000 year old coin is more "common" and not worth as much as some coins from the 1900's...
Its all about the "common" thing.
Is the coin considered "common"... ?
Or is it a "rare" coin ?

Uncommon finds always seem to trump the rest.
Personally I never saw your thread/posting of your coin... If I did I do not recall it...
I do not "research" peoples posts / threads very often these days.

A link to your coin please.

Yes, that's true, AARC. Here is the link for you to see but I'm not asking to be nominated for a banner.

this would have prevented your find from qualifying .

I must be used to posting in the coin roll hunting section. Most posts never go over a page. I see your post got 19 responses and multiple people responded. Not sure what you are complaining about?

General question to everyone, do you get anything special for having a banner find? Or is it just bragging rights?
