I woke up bright and early and headed to the house that keeps on giving.
Again, for every good find, 20 bad ones are waiting to be plucked from the snake infested soil.
This was in my second hole of the day!
What a way to start the morning!

After about 10 minutes of swinging and 20 feet from the snake, I popped this out of the hole. A rifled slug
Identified in the what is it forum.

Here it is with an Infield bullet i found last year.

Now for the fun part!

After getting home I took a closer look at what I thought was trash.
When i first dug this ring, all i saw was a bunch of numbers on the outside. The inside was smooth with no markings so i figured
the numbers on the outside were tool numbers. Maybe it was a gauge of some sort. Whatever it was, it was not worth taking a picture.
After wiping it off at home, this is what i found.

This ring has map coordinates engraved in it! Both Latitude and Longitude. Have you ever heard of such a thing?
Now i have a mystery to solve. Why are their map coordinates on this ring? Is their a treasure waiting to be found?

I looked the coordinates up and it takes me to a University and more specifically, a spot in an open field at the University.
Such an odd thing indeed!

Anyhow, back to the hunt. I also found this silver plated spoon. Again, just another spoon until i cleaned it up.
Its a Mickey Mouse Spoon from the 1930's

This is what the spoon would look like without deterioration.

I have several Mickey mouse items so this will go nicely with them.

Finally, a picture of all my finds today. Lots of keys in the mix as well.

HH everyone!

Nice hunt, cool ring, that's a lot of keys, I wouldn't be real comfortable hunting with the snakes, hate them.

Some interesting digs there.....including the snake.[emoji19] If it would be me hunting a snake infested rural area think my Ruger Blackhawk.45 Colt loaded with snake loads would be on my hip.

As for the coordinances on that ring, it's up to you but treasure hunters are a curious lot so see if you can get permission to hunt there and put on your largest search coil. You never know.

Before I go to the what did I find forum I will make a stab on that bullet and say it's a rifled shotgun slug. Congratulations on the digs.

Thanks for the encouragement. I found several places that make jewelry with map coordinates. I guess its something that people do now days. If the coordinates lead to a house or building or sports field such as baseball or football i would be inclined to think the ring is a reminder of a significant place the owner wanted to remember. But they don't. Instead they take you to an open field about 100 yards from the closest building. The University is about 7 hours away from me so i won't be going there anytime soon. That said, the detector club i am in has talked about taking a trip in that direction sometime this year. If that happens i will take a side trip and check it all out.

What type of university is it? DO they specialize in anything special? I ask because the coordinates may be the place where two people met for the first time.

Liberal Arts College

I’d say coordinates are maybe where somebody proposed marriage ?? Just a guess

I thought about that but considering the location, it would be the most ugly and unromantic place on earth.
But the ring does look very much like a wedding band.

I agree....i just let the snake stay in the hole and i worked around it with my hand tool. LOL Maybe i should start a TV show based on the ring? Considering i found a snake on the same day, we can say the snake is part of a curse that surrounds the ring. :laughing7:
