I found this and am wondering if someone can shed some light on it. I have included a bunch of photos.

If it is gold plated, USAF major. If it is just silver it would be Lt. Colonel

Actually, the pin "configuration" represents the same rank BUT are called differently by some of the five services.

GOLD LEAF (04): ARMY Major (MAJ), MARINES Major (MAJ), NAVY Lieutenant Commander (LCDR), AIR FORCE Major (MAJ) and COAST GUARD Lieutenant Commander (LCDR)

Congrats on a great military find. I'm also proud to say that my younger brother wore that same pin. Retired Major USAF.

I was asked to go through some old items at an estate sale for a family friend. There were a few things that I thought were interesting so I saved this one. And yes, it was here in San Diego. Is there an approximate year that this may have been from? Or is that pretty hard to discern?

Thanks for replying Joe. Always like to be sure I'm understanding ˆWHEREˆ it was found.
