Today I found my first and only 24K ring. It was found in an old park and was around 5 1/2 inches deep. It looks old to me but I would love to hear your opinions. Also, does anyone know what the asian writing says? On front and inside??

Since both the USB ports are broken on my computer I had to use my phone to upload pictures. Sorry they are not the greatest.

The only thing that makes me think this might not be old is 24k is very soft and will wear down taking your hands in and out of your pocket. That being said… That ring looks old to me!

Well I suggest that you sell that bad boy off and use the money to fix those pesky USB ports :laughing9:

All kidding aside, that is one great, valuable find.. You're one lucky guy :icon_thumleft:

You know, it looks like it's worth a lot of money. It reminds me of a mark to wax seal a document. What do you call that? so that would make it very old. You got a winner there my friend.

now that is a fantastic find! not just because it is 24k..man that's a rare K for a ring, but also b/se it is so unique. it looks old to me - i would be surprised that it would be amateur b/se of the markings. very very cool find. what is the weight?

Wow what a find! The last two characters are the characters for woman and then child respectively. Read together they may represent another word (or sound ) entirely. Not sure of the first two. Could be Chinese or Japanese, although I don't know when they started marking karats....

Looks like a Signet ring which would have the owners initials on the ring. Any old ring I've found were very small. The people were much smaller back then.

weights 14 grams

Thanks for the partial translation. I hope someone can tell me what the entire thing means.

This park goes back to the late 1800s but the grounds have recorded history going back to the 1500s. I don't think this ring is anywhere near that but I did find a Spanish 1/2 reale a few feet from where this ring turned up. Prior to this ring the oldest gold I found was a 1890s pocket watch. I think this ring is older then that or at least I hope it is.

Great find!

Keep in mind that using number stamps is not that old. If I remember correctly it is 1860's or maybe even later than that.

Wow! Spanish 1/2 reale and a gold ring. Was the pocket watch found at the same place? Regardless, sounds like you got a good hunting spot! Go get more.
