WOW!!!!! I have the GT and it doesn't recover nearly that fast. I don't think the GT would even pick up the coin that close to the iron nails. I officially want the E-Trac now. That is an amazing speed recovery!

well that is impressive. i wonder why he was using CONST sounds instead of FERROUS or CONDUCT? i would have liked to see if the machine ID`d the silver as silver next to that iron. it would have been nice to see what the target id was coming in like as well.still, a pretty impressive demo.

Yes it will, Even if the nails are above it.
But never at that speed.

You would need to do the wiggle.

It won't recover that fast

Gut feeling.... bet every explorer would do the same test. All that's happening is the relic setting is probably just at the point of accepting all non-ferrous targets and the coin even combined with the nails is enough to put it into the range of being detectable. In the ground there will be much more of a halo effect and swinging quick like that in a lot of cases probably wouldn't give you as solid a signal, I'll wiggle my XS any day against someone who wants to swing like that in iron... and I bet I will win. :D

Jeff of Pa & Iron Patch ...You are right about the Sovereign able to do the same thing so the the XS would have to do it also...............................==Jim==

Jeff, I can't be sure on this, and would like to hear from others, or better yet do the test.

I suspect the reset speed might have less to do with this than you would expect. The detector may be seeing both nails and the coin at the same time and it is good enough to give a signal. Smoke and mirrors... hope I'm wrong.

I just watched that video again and I must have not really been paying attention. I hope no one thinks that detector is fast enough to null the nail, detect the coin, then null the nail again? lol It's just combining the sound and giving a signal... just like my XS does in iron! :D A modern American dime is not something I find but is the sound not just a little low? (Meaning it's a combined tone) ...and why not use a silver coin for the test? Next time I'm out I'm going to dig a few nails and try that test myself cuz I ain't buying it.

I never thought of that
But you may be right

as the sovereign Decides what you want to find
& Knows you want Coins Not Nails.

But the Halo Effect may also effect Things.

But The speed of recovery does impress me.

I don't think my sovereign would penetrate the ground at that speed.

Still Too many Bells & Whistles for me.

I don't think the E-trac would either if I took it to one of my regular sites with quite a bit of small iron. The Explorer is just a different beast than other detectors and It's not about speed, obviously. Here's a question I have asked on forums for over 5 years and no one could ever answer.

In iron sites I have shown many brands of detectors small masked deep non-iron targets and they could no read it, even though they had a faster responding detector. Once I cut the plug and the signal got much better only then could they hear it. So the question is... If response speed- separation is such a big deal hunting in trash why is the role not reversed in this situation? That's why when minelab hypes a new 'faster processor' it doesn't mean much to me. For all we know it could be the same as the II, or SE, interesting why the SE doesn't give specs., just something like new & improved - faster. I'm really curious to see where we are on this 6 months from now. Maybe we'll all have em, or maybe just having a few extra beer with all the $ we saved by not having them. :D

Your Right of course

It makes no sense to Buy something New from the factory.

There are always Hypes & Bugs that need to be corrected.

Like a fine wine, it is always Best to
give it time to improve.

Jeff, I think I asked you before but don't recall if I seen the answer. Did you ever sell a big Explorer package including an 18" coil? You might have told me the last time it wasn't you, so was the other Jeff from PA. I know I have posted at other forums with you because I remember you guys hunting the DC-6 Flight 624 site and posting as it was going on.

No, been through several. I got sick of dealing with Minelab service so when they go floppy I sell em as is and buy another. The guy you bought the detector from obviously didn't use it much, it was basically new.
