Hi everyone!! Haven't had much time recently to get onto the net with work being pretty busy. Hopefully things will slow up a bit now. Got out to a field that Rick and I found when he was out here last week on our spring hunt. (will make a separate post with the finds) I found the best coin I have every found, an 1826 Bust half dollar in pristine condition. Also the major part of a volunteer militia Cap insignia from 1840-1850. I looked for over an hour for the rest of it, but no luck. Am going back though. My friend Dave who was with me came up with two large coppers, an 1851 and an 1834. This field is one of the best we have come across. Just have to wait for them to cut it. Grass is almost 18 inches high and makes you tired real quick. Thanks for looking....Lance

Congratulations!!

I'll forgo the usual 'darn you out-easters' jokes and just say that when someone finds a "moon shot" coin like you did, it inspires us all. There are still fantastic coins in the ground wherever we hunt. Our odds in the midwest are taller, but people brought things to the Territories from out East, or they came *back* to the midwest from their western adventures in the gold fields or wherever.

No matter where the rest of us are, your find holds up the guidon and says it can be done. You remind us that stupendous finds are attainable, and in so doing make all of our hunting (and daydreaming) more fun.

Thanks! and I KNOW YOU HAD A TON OF FUN & THRILLS WITH THIS, YOU DESERVE IT.

Comfy,

I do love the bust coins, they are a great example of a time when most things were an expression of the creators soul. thus becoming a form of art.

Congrats on this banner find,
I hope you find many more of these wonderful coins.

These are my favorites,
Thom

That is absolutely beautiful and quite a worthy prize. I see you post a lot and it is great that your hard work and patients paid off so well. I bet you will find other muster artifacts in that field. I'm glad that you are going back after the the first cut is done. Good luck next time and congrats!
