Older than "Colonial Copper" - UPDATE

On my way up to visit my brother in southern Wisconsin this past Friday, I spent 1-1/2 hours
metal detecting before my hunt was terminated >:( by the high winds and heavy rain. . .

When I found this, my initial thought was that it was a piece of scrap metal but when I saw the
the oxidized-copper patina, wishful thinking entered my mind that this may possibly be related
to the "copper culture" period in the Wisconsin/Michigan area.

I posted this in the "American Indian Artifacts" section of the forum and some members suggest
that this may be a copper celt. . . if it is, this will be my best find ever.

UPDATE:
Yesterday I received confirmation from two archeologists that this is
indeed a copper Celt (cold and/or hot hammered) that was likely made
and/or used sometime between 4,000 BC and 500AD.

Many thanks to everyone for your kind comments and suggestions.
(and yes, I'm still on cloud nine)

I would make sure I pounded that area really well before I let the archaeologists know the location. They'll most definitely try to find a way to not let you come back. I wonder if you were willing to sell it if a museum would buy it from you??? Geez I wonder how much that thing is worth?
