Saturday's Silver and a Wheat with nails through it.

Got out on Saturday with Mark. I think he is getting tired of me yelling out silver, indian, or wheatie, when we are out on a hunt.

One of the wheats I dig has two pieces of iron piercing it, so I guess that is about you really need to prove how well the explorer can separate iron from a coin signal. It was about 7-8" deep. In this particular park I dug two silver, 17 wheats, and two indian heads and only one of the wheats was a signal that I think a new Explorer would dig.

I think between driving around, etc., we got in a good 4 hours worth of digging.

Totals for the day:

1943 P Silver War Nickel
2 Mercury Dimes (1937, 1943 FSB )
Sterling Silver Indianapolis Manual Pin
3 Indian Heads (1901, 1907, 1909)
22 Wheats
Girl Scout Pin
Marble

All of my sites seem to be cherry picked from past detectorists for the silver, so I have to go in and try to get their scraps and hope that some of the iffy signals turn into silver.

What do you mean by this?
1) The new machine (SE) wouldn't find it.
2) Someone new to the Explorer wouldn't dig the signal.
Thanks,

Yeah, there were about 8 or so that were 1920s or older. Sadly, most were 1919 like usual.

Can't tell. It looks to be from the teens, but its really worn and the rust is right over the edge of the date. It's probably a 1909SVDB :)
