Yeah my boxes sure seemed to have dried up lately. But I just started searching my boxes for this week and just found my 50th 90% and my 350th 40% half for the year in the same box. That gives me an exact 7/1 40%/90% half find ratio for the year. The box was from the same bank I got the box with the 4 x 40% (box 115) last week so Im glad my boxes from that bank are still producing a little silver for me.

Well, I had a much better week last week. I was only able to get 4 boxes last week because of a busier than usual work schedule. But I found silver in all 4 boxes which sure was a nice surprise. I feel like Im on the road back to Silverville now. Hopefully my good luck will continue for a while but only time will tell.

8/11:
$3 loose Ikes: clad including a clad '73S (my first clad proof Ike and first '73 Ike from any mint)
$7 loose halves: '49 Ben (my first pre-'51 Ben), 2 x 40% ('67, '69D)

8/12:
$4.50 loose halves: clad
$4 loose halves: all clad including a clad '76S
$20 cwr halves: skunk
$500 half box #120: '64, '68D
$500 half box #121: '53D Ben

8/13:
$2.50 loose halves: clad

8/14:
$1 loose and $10 cwr halves: skunk
$2.50 loose halves: clad
$2 Ikes: clad
$500 half box #122: '64 Ken, '76 grease error, '82P no FG?
$500 half box #123: 7 x 40% (5 x '67, '68D ender, '69D), '75 Panama Balboa

Great scores this week! That's a nice little silver vein you've hit there. Also, the bank you picked up the loose halves on 8/11 clearly doesn't have any silver sniping tellers if they let that Ben slip through the cracks!

Yeah for the past 3 years I've had consistently good luck with customer halves from the bank I got the silver halves from on 8/11. And that's the same bank I got an '88 ASE from about a year a half ago which sure was quite a surprise. And it figures last week when I was at the bank picking up my last two boxes (boxes 122 & 123) I cancelled my two box weekly order from that bank. Those were the first silver producing boxes I got from that bank in about 2 months. So needless to say I called that bank this morning to resume from weekly two box order. I suppose I should of known better than to give up so soon because you just never know what you'll find from box to box with this hobby.

Well, finding 4 x 90% and 10 x 40% halves last week was the best week I've had in a while. Hopefully my good luck will continue the rest of the month. Hope you have continued success with your boxes too.

Sounds like tough luck on the halves. My average has been about one silver half per $500 box.

Great box. I've been doing halves for a while and I've never had a box anywhere near that good.

Excellent week silverface, glad to see much better boxes heading your way! Not sure if you've been asked before, but why no dimes?

Thanks. It was nice getting some decent boxes again last week. I decided to stop searching dimes a couple of years ago mainly because of the risks and costs of dimes being miscounted as cents in coin counters. And I thought I was going to be searching more nickels this year than I have but after I had a great month with half boxes in May I've been focusing primarily just on halves.

After that great month in May I thought about trying to increase my volume with half boxes but for now Im content with doing about 6 half boxes a week. I know that's small volume compared to a lot of others but if I search over 200 half boxes this year like I plan to that will be a record year for me in terms of volume. And I think I've found about 72 ozs of silver so far this year and I'm hoping to find at least 100 ozs by the end of the year. If I can avoid long skunk streaks I should hopefully reach my goal.

Well, I only searched 3 boxes last week but I still managed to find a little silver. And strangely enough 2 of my 3 silver keepers for the week were enders.

8/18:
$100 mwr halves: skunk
$500 half box #124: skunk ('81S)

8/19:
$4 Ikes: clad
$18.50 loose halves: skunk
$500 half box #125: '67 ender, '87P, '87D
$500 half box #126: 2 x 40% ('67, '68D ender - both in the same roll)

8/21:
$5.50 loose halves: skunk ('87P)
$340 cwr & $2.50 loose halves: skunk

8/22:
Free: '43 steel wheat cent in coin counter

I've only searched 7 boxes in the past two weeks but I may have as many as 8 boxes to p/u this week so Im hoping to finish the month with some good boxes. Btw, I've now found a total of 73.5475 ozs of silver for the year and I'm still hoping to find 100 oz by the end of the year.

The silver keeps tricking-in. Good luck with your boxes next week. I'm hoping for a big score next week.

Very impressive numbers on the halves. "It's all about the volume," I have heard someone say. Consistent nickel numbers too. You probably get either a war nickel or Buffalo on almost every box. I scored my first Franklin last week and can't wait to score a Walker. Your number prove that if you search enough volume, you are going to find Walkers.

Well, I was able to finish the month with my best box of the month on Friday. And I finished the last box by finding a '70D in the 49th roll which is a first for me. I always like saving the best for last. :)

8/26:

$1 loose halves: clad
$500 half box #127: skunk ('73S, '74S, 2 x clad '76S, '77S)
$500 half box #128: skunk (4 x clad '76S, '87D)

8/28:
$500 half box #129: '68D
$500 half box #130: '67
$500 half box #131: skunk

8/29:
$7.50 loose halves: skunk
$500 half box #132: '62 Ben, 8 x 40% (3 x '67, 3 x '68D, '69D, '70D) - two rolls had a quarter in them and two other rolls were a coin short so I was $1.50 short for the box but fortunately this was my best silver box of the month

8/30:
$10 loose halves: skunk

I've now found 75.3882 ozs of silver in the first 8 months of the year and I'm still hoping to find another 25 ozs of silver or more by the end of the year.

Nice box of halves. I assume it was machine wrapped rolls. Just goes to show the machines make mistakes. Are the 1970's 40%? How rare are they?
You seem to find tons of s mint proof clads. I find a few. Are they worth anything?

75 ozT for the year. Truly amazing. Good luck reaching your 100 ozT for the year. I like your chances.

Thanks. Yes 1970 was the last year of the regular strike 40% silver halves (other than the 3-coin sets released in '76) but they weren't released into circulation that year so they were/are NIFC and difficult to find in circulation and considered a key date Kennedy half dollar (mintage is 2,150,000). Yeah I suppose I find a fair amount of clad proofs and the ones I found last week are in really nice condition and look like they've just recently been broken out of proof sets. If they are still in nice condition they should have a little value above fv but not too much.

With 4 full months still left this year Im hopeful too about reaching my 100 oz silver goal by the end of the year. Only time will tell but if I can avoid double digit skunk streaks I think I should have a pretty good chance. Good luck to everyone else too.

Well this month is sure starting off good so far. September has usually been a really good month for me in the past. It was 5 years ago in September of 2009 that I scored my first solid roll - a solid roll of Bens ('59-'63). And it was 3 years ago today on September 3rd 2011 that I had my best score ever - 3 solid rolls of Walkers and Bens + a few 40% from 8 cwrs and $11 loose (the details are still fresh in my mind lol). I hope this September will be a lucky month for me as well but only time will tell.

9/2:
.50 loose half: clad
$500 half box #133: skunk
$500 half box #134: 13 x 40% ('66, 4 x '67, 6 x '68D, 2 x '69D), '72S, '87D ender

9/3:
$4 loose halves: '68D

Three of the rolls in box 134 had three 40%ers each including the '87D ender roll. No 90% in that box but that was still my best box in a couple of months.
