OK you silver hounds... Here's your chance to post your totals for the 2006.
How many 90%'ers, 40%'ers, war nicks, and other silver have you found in coin rolls this year?

I will start it off with a big, fat ZERO. ;D

You can update your postings as you add to the silver count.
They say confession's good for the soul. Have you been wondering, like me, how many ounces of silver are out there?

Let's hear about your finds!

HH,
Bob

FINAL PLANNED UPDATE 1/7/07, 4:45 PM EST

OK, people. Here's the final totals for 2006 (unless someone posts a late update, of course).

It will be VERY interesting to see how 2007's totals stack up against 2006's. I am quite curious to see if the silver still in circulation out there is on the decline, or if the supply is big enough to maintain numbers similar to the hefty totals for this year.

90%'ers found = 2488 (899.88 ounces of silver);
40%'ers found = 11,604 (1716.23 ounces of silver);
Quarters found = 745 (135.47 ounces of silver);
Dimes found = 1540 (111.40 ounces of silver);
War nickels = 189 (11.67 ounces of silver);
Dollars = 46 (35.58 ounces of silver)
Indirect silver = 13.1 ounces

Total silver bullion weight = 2923.34 oz (that's 182.71 POUNDS!!!);
Total value of silver = $35,430.83
using 1/5/2007's quote of $12.12 per ounce.

What a year, folks. You guys performed above and beyond the call of duty!

NOTE - only post for 2006 in this thread. Please use the new thread for 2007.

HH,
Bob

PS - I will accept late updates. Happy hunting in 2007, people. Tally ho!

HobBob...Looks like you will have a "new" hobby just keeping up with all the finds! ;) I'm off tomorrow to some virgin territory with lots of small rural banks...Should have more work for you...REALLY appreciate your efforts! HH
LOL... you are right!!

Totals have been updated. Shocking numbers!! Take a look at the original post for the updated results.
You people are unbelieveable. Do you realize that your cumulative finds are probably the top value find this year on TNet??!!
Although I don't know that for sure, I wouldn't be at all surprised!! Your cumulative total tonight is over $26,930.

Congrats to all the silver hounds... finding the silver is a lot less dirty than detectoring, and can be done from the comfort of your living room. Best of all... YOU GUYS ARE CLEANING HOUSE!!

Keep updating your finds for me. Please make it clear in your post if it is in addition to what you already have posted, or if you are posting your newly updated totals.

Bob

Re: Silver Totals for 2006: 135.74 POUNDS RECOVERED, UPDATED 11/12/06, 6:00 PM EST

Hey All,
I caught an error in my math for the price of silver. Yesterday's post was mistakenly based on a silver price of $12.55 per ounce. I corrected it to $13.01 per ounce. See the original post for the totals.

The correct total for your finds: $28,426.75!!!

I also included the two new posts since last night.

Keep it up!!

Bob

Just to be clear Bob, you only tally results from posts on this thread, right? I'm choosing to post my additions at the end of the month just to keep your work to a minimum and to not confuse myself.

Re: Silver Totals for 2006: 136.56 POUNDS RECOVERED, UPDATED 11/19/06, 12:30 PM EST

Totals have been updated for the week. The total value of the group's silver haul went down a little this week, even though the count totals increased, because silver declined in value from $13.01 to $12.73 this weekend.

A very respectable haul indeed!

Re: Silver Totals for 2006: 143 POUNDS RECOVERED - updated 11/19/06, 4:45 PM EST

I have received a request for a copy of the spreadsheet I am using to keep track of the totals. While I don't mind sharing the spreadsheet, I am hesitant to provide copies of the data I have accumulated. See my earlier post below:
HobBob said:
What I was wondering originally was to see how much silver had been pulled out of coinage in circulation in calendar year 2006, but not necessarily everybody's grand totals for their entire silver stash.

My desire for this thread was that it would be an encouragement for folks (like myself) who haven't scored silver from circulating coinage as of yet. And (hopefully) that's what everyone else has been reporting.
...

Also -- although the totals posted in this thread are there for anyone who wants to do the math, I have been trying to avoid connecting any one person's name with a specific dollar value or quantity of silver bullion recovered. Why? I didn't want to bruise anyone's ego who isn't finding as much as the big dogs have been.

I figured that all the big dogs needed to do to feel good about their luck is to look down at that gleaming silver pile. 8)

Re: Silver Totals for 2006: 143.95 POUNDS RECOVERED, UPDATED 11/25/06, 8:30 PM EST

Totals have been updated. Not much increase in silver content this week, but a huge jump in the dollar value thanks to silver's rise from $12.73 to $13.40 this week.
I also updated the individual silver weights for each type of coin... I think I forgot to do that last time.

See the original post at the top of this thread for the updated totals.

Bob
