It was 20 years ago... the gun is gone.....the snake is dead ...and my hair is grey....

Chub
I'm sorry, Chub. My comment was too blasé. My first fave is the Winchester Mod 12, (pre '64... no seer disconnect) and then the Rem 870. My Mossberg 590 occurred because I could not find a Moss 500A. (My hair is grey too) Take care my friend. ╦╦Ç

I hear there are a few Aussies that water their "gardens" with oil...
I like that one, Alien! Ha! When I was married, my wife once told me, if I bled, it would be gun oil! ╦╦Ç

Nothing shoots like the model 12! Im looking for one that is not all shot out and sloppy. Mine is sloppy. Never did like a pump only shotgun. I can't chew gum and pat my head at the same time. My favorite Auto loader is an 1100 LT express in 20 GA and second the SPAS Ferranchi 500 Autoloader. (not the switchable I don't have one)
I do have a Browning Citari From Belgium and that is a fantastic under over I have a second year Japanese Browning OU that is still pretty great!

Hey Trd (sorry) There's a reason all police departments use pump shotguns. Reliability, ease of clearing, and simplicity. I had access to the Mod 12 in Vietnam. SUPER ambush weapon! The 870 is the most popular smooth-bore used. HAPPINESS IS A WARM .12 GAUGE! ╦╦Ç

All of us agree with you.
Actually I disagree. Snakes play a vital role in our world. If it weren't for snakes we would be overridden with Rats, Roaches and other insects.
I do kill any Poisson snake I find close to the house in a threatening way, but the non-poisonous are plenty welcome around my house.
Last week I cokesed a 4-1/2 to 5' Black snake from the road back to my Daughters house for her. I asked but she wouldn't let me keep it and take home.
In my state (GA) it is only legal to kill a poison snake if it threatens you and illegal to kill any non poisonous snake regardless.

We have a lot of gopher snakes. GOOD as ratters. All non-venomous get a green check here. ╦╦Ç

I agree with you and never said it was a bad gun, I love a pump for non accurate shooting. I know lots of people that shoot dove with one. But I have never been able to swing shoot rack and shoot with any accuracy. Give me the auto loader for birding any day. Street sweeping, breeching, close quarters it is a fine gun.

Accuracy is a relative thing. It's a "shot" gun. I've been shooting them for at least 50 years. I'll bet you I can ram 'em and jam 'em as fast as your semi-auto.... on target. I posted a video here shooting my mod 12 a few years ago. Granted, only into a hill side, but got off 5 shots 00 buck in just 1.3 seconds. Many detectorists here were furious! ╦╦Ç

I have seen this done, and I think you are missing my point. I know a AAA Trap and skeet shooter that uses a model 12 from the hip and never misses a trap or skeet target. All I am saying is I CAN't do it well. Basically I suck with a pump and prefer an autoloader. If I break out anything else it would be an OU or a SXS

No offense taken!
I often think -and am so surprised- that we survived all the crazy choices we made as kids. We had a copy of the anarchist cookbook , poor mans james bond etc some other good reads from palladin press. Not sure if they are still around? Anyway we made some touch powder... my brother used to put it all over my motorbike (on the clutch, break etc ) so when I went to work it would sound like a cap gun with ever action. Anyway....we mixed it in a prescription bottle....with a label...with our name on it(dumb). we'd been letting this stuff off after some beers at a public look out along with a lemon cannon etc.. long day and the bottle was laying on its side and we forgot it....then remembered it some time later so I said I would pic it up the next day.... whent to pick it up and thought I had better throw a rock onto the bottle to see if there was anything left....the rock hit the bottle...huge explosion that shattered the rock. So yes, narrowly avoided turning my hand into a handburger.

Have a thousand plus crazy stories.... luckily we mellow and wisen with age.

No problema, mi amigo. I'm simply trying to push my agenda. Nothing personal. I love the pump and find no personal need for an auto-loader. Just me. There are many good auto-loaders out there. My leanings are molded towards police and combat experience, not to mention growing up using my dad's 12, made in 1913, according to the serial number. ╦╦Ç

The spas was a quick unloader...nothing like Terrys 1.3Seconds!! but still fast. It had a unique look and feel in my opinion. I think it was used in terminator movies. Also a fairly early adopter of the plastic /composite components/

The reason you can rap them off so fast with the 12 is it has no seer disconnect. If you pull the trigger for the first shot then continue to hold it back, the next goes off when the pump slide goes to battery. All other pumps, including the 12's successor, 1200, have a seer disconnect..... a safety thing. ╦╦Ç

That my friend is your Military back ground Kickin in. I unfortunately was rejected for Desert Storm Due to my incredible lack of coordination! or was it the fact that I have flat feet and a twisted spine? I don't remember exactly but they said thanks but no thanks. I get to live vicariously through those and had the honor to serve.

Cheers and BTW Thank you very much for your service.

You are absolutely correct. Arnold asks for it in the gun shop along with the UZI 9mm and others. I too had a copy of the Anarchy Cookbook. I cannot put the mayhem into print! Too much fun.

Yeah, its dry. Im dont really feel like an Aussie anymore...its my citizenship and country of birth but I left so long ago (when I was 25) and have only returned once.Ive been all over the world. It was great in the pre multi cultural / politically correct days.... as with all great nations..... just my opinion.

How did a thread on snakes become guns? Ya got to admit guns against snakes is is overkill not worth discussion.
I mean ya don't even need to be a good shot unless maybe a pistol at 20 paces.
Anyway there is storied here that a dog bit by rattlesnake will probably be OK. Not sure how that story started but
it's part of rural lore here. Kind of like "It's good you got the dog some anti-venom but he probably would have been
fine." Or so my friend was told. He was a tad put off as he thought he could have saved some money.
Maybe it's a simple as some people also pull through. Maybe some money could be saved and wait to see what happens
to them.
