One of the things I like to do is go through the boxes of old photo's found in antique stores. I came across a bunch that had old shots of Washington DC and some were handwritten with a blue ink pen with some info of the photo and a few with the date June 1943. This 5-1/4" x 4" B&W photo is handwritten on the back, "Science Research Lab Anacostia D.C. Movie Stars etc.(no info as to who these people are). I would say the tall fellow 4th from the left-back-row is Jimmy Stewart, but that's just my opinion for now. As for the other people or so called movie stars in the photo, I've no clue just who they are?... I would say the photo was out of a personal collection that someone took of a trip to Washington D.C. in 1943. I also purchsed other photo I liked of D.C. from the collection.

I goofed

Sorry folks, I did a chicken count before they hatched.... DCMATT sure has a nose for when the food doesn't smell right. Fur coats in June??? I got the pictures out and I've no clue why the date June 1943 was on my brain? Only some of the pictures of Washington D.C. from the collection just have the year on them and that is 1942' What a curve ball I made of myself. This is a picture of the backs of the pictures from the collection the one on the top is the info on the movie star picture. I do think DCMATT has got himself dialed in on the story behind this picture. The 22/.50 is from the antique mall dealer No.22 who sold the photos for 50 cents each.

Tamrock - Can you repost the pic with thos who are identified clearly marked. I'd like to work on those who are still not IDed but not sure which ones are left.

Thx

DCMatt
I'll do what I can, Maybe redo the photo with better light and mash my brain through all these post as they do have a few takes on whos, who here. Give me till after the Broncos/Chargers game tomorrow night. My nerves starting to tense up.

I found some of the names mentioned in this newspaper article. This is from the San Diego Union January 26, 1942.

Breezie

Wonderful work on the names to the faces, Breezie.

I disagree with Yvonne DeCarlo (I do think she is Hedy Lamarr), and am sure that is not Louis Jourdan. Jourdan was in France for the war & in the Resistance.

The man in partial profile to the extreme left, I believe, is Charles Boyer.

I'm now thinking that the gentleman with the eyeglasses behind Charles Payne's right shoulder may be Edgar Bergen.

I'm also wondering if that might not be Barbara Stanwyck with her eyes closed

Hello Jeff,

I'm pretty sure Cooper's hand is on the back of Bonita Granville's chair.

I'm also taking this opportunity to say that I change my mind from the profile at far left being Boyer; and saying that nose and cheekbones look more like Gene Autry.

Surf, I do think you got the ID on the fella to the left as Autry, but I think you meant hand on chair of Hedy Lamarr? As I do agree with you on the lady in the chair left side as Hedy Lamarr.

Based on Bramblefind's list the woman 2nd from the left is Brenda Marshall.

I don't know who the bald guy with glasses is, but because he is not a "pretty face", I suspect he is a popular band leader or musician.
