What is this large ring for ?

Found this large metal (copper,Brass?) ring, any ideas. I was thinking wagon hardware.

I put it on what is it, they think it's a drawer puller. A drawer handle.

Try googling "snaffle bit" looks like thats what it might be from.

definatly horse tackle. You can see the wear from the leather straps on the top, how thin it is compared to the sides. The small part was where the hinge was.
