I was wondering if anyone could provide me with a grade and possibly a value for the following half cent.

I found it yesterday, in a coin machine reject tray believe it or not. Looks to be in pretty good condition to me, but I would love to hear from you guys.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Best reject tray score I've seen! Way to go!

Based on condition, I'd put it at $50 minimum, although you probably would get more than that on ebay.

I'd give it a solid XF45 and might go AU on closer examination. Looks like someone's coin collection got raided!

Not based on completed sales on eBay. One just closed last night that was graded by PCGS that would be the equivalent grade of MasterMind's find for $104. It is a heck of a find, but it isn't the rare 12 star variety.

I am going by book based on condition, not based on Ebay sales because they are unpredictable:

Wow! That is quite a find! She's a beaut and probably was a very welcome sight. I would grade it as as solid AU, but something doesn't look quite right about the left side of the obverse. It may just be the colours/picture/weaker strike, but it looks somewhat porous (?). Anyhow, I would not be able to snag that coin for anything less than $100, $150 being tops on a good day. The stained/discoloured area on the obverse would slightly lower the grade and/or value, but the beautiful toning and lustre on the reverse exhibit the characteristics of a high-AU piece and would probably cancel out the negative effects of the discolouration on the obverse. That is a great coin and an absolutely magnificent coin to find for free.

The coin appears to have been weakly struck but is a solid EF-45! I believe that it could fetch anywhere from $80 to $120 but might fetch as much as $150 on the right day.
