I went back this morning to a schoolyard that I was at the day before but had to leave because it got to hot to detect. My first signal was a zinc penny. The second dig, a dime. Then on my 3rd I get a hard nickel hit. The F2 says it is about 2 inches down. I figure this is an easy nickel. I plunge my digger into the soil just deep enough to pull back the grass when out pops this. I almost had a heart attack. One large stone and 8 baguettes.

I think I might have secured a spot in the gold and diamond club. Taking it to the jeweler tomorrow.

And there ya go!
If it is there the F2 will find it...even gold.

Bask in this feeling...it stays with you for awhile but then it fades till gold fever rears its ugly head again.
Mine acts up about every 3-4 weeks.
It gets real important to find gold again once you taste that feeling.

CongratZ!

Thanks digger27 and all who have been giving encouragement and support.
I would watch others make these finds and secretly want them to happen to me. That I wanted to be a guy who can find the treasure too. I know this is a great start, but I also know that this is rare. I also know that my chances of future finds dramatically increase with information and time on the tool. I hope to be a good student.

Sorry to report but the diamonds in this ring were CZ's. S**t! The gold was real, but the stones weren't. Had it tested again by a reputable jeweler. Sorry for the false alarm. Feeling kinda foolish now.

Lots of gold rings are loaded with fake diamonds...but look at the prices they still sell for sometimes.
Maybe not the huge bucks a real diamond loaded ring would be worth, but it is still gold and a rare find no matter what.
Sell it as a ring or send it in for melt and it still will be extra money in your pocket.
IF you are willing to let it go and not display it and brag about it forever instead which nobody would blame you for doing at all.

Still a great find!

Thanks digger. Nah gonna melt it. I will have many more finds that I will posting here. Some better some worse. But I will learn to be a great detectorist. And have a good time doing it. Later I will laugh about it and know I will have a funny story.

I am a member of many forums and have 10,000 posts on one, have probably read twice as many if not more posts than that on many more of them.
Just remember that there are hunters all over the place that have been doing this for 10-20-30-40 years or more...and have never found a gold anything...ever!

Check out ARA.
98% return and they will also send your stones back to you if you want them.
Even the little ones eventually add up.
Keep finding them and send in a batch or one at a time.

I sent in just a few of the ones I have found that my wife didn't want or were too good to melt just before Christmas last year.
The bulk of this lot was found with the F2.
You are on your way, just keep swinging and learning.

Plus it is cool to be able to come to a place where you cheer my success and empathize with my defeats. Treat me like one of you out there doing the digging. You guys go out of your way to pass on your knowledge and experience. All this for a guy who only has been doing it for only 4 months! Sounds to me I have already found great treasure.

Took me 3 years and over 1000 pull tabs before I found my first gold ring. Lately I have been finding more silver than gold.

Congratulations!
