A month or so ago, I saw a post and link to a listing. Can't find now!! This device connects to your PC via USB and allows you to view items under magnification on your monitor. Anyone know what it is called please?

It is called a digital microscope. You can get one of ebay for about $50.00 for a fairly good one. Just make sure the magnification isn't to much if you are planing to use it for jewelry and coins. I have one and it works great.
HH, Jerry

Thank you Jerry! Yes, my use would be for coins and jewelry. What magnification range would you suggest?

YES i also agree with them and it is surely digital microscope as i recently purchased it costed me for 75$ and is verty good device for checking the jewelleries etc

The one I purchased is a VEHO VMS-004. It has a magnification of 40 to 400 magnification. However, I teach forensic science and use it in the classifying fingerprints, so you might not need that much magnification. I use it for my finds also. I researched the different models out there and this was the one most recommended by the law enforcement community. I paid $68.00 for mine and have had it for about 2 years so you might find it a little cheaper.

That seams a bit powerful for coins. I think 10 power would work just right. Frank

Thanks again for the info guys. I will do some checking Jerry, I could see that being useful for my work as well.

The one I have is a Celestron handheld digital microscope, it does come with a stand, works great.

Finderskeepers, If you don't see nothing, that means you do see something. Just send me the $20. LOL Frankcrystal ball 2 700.webp

If you twist out the lens so it's just about to fall out on a regular Web cam you can do this.
