Post Up Your Favorite Dandy Buttons

One of my absolute favorite finds are big designed dandy buttons. I've found a lot of cool tombac buttons but the big designed dandy buttons are pretty tough to find. Here's a few of mine. The 6 point 13 star dandy is likely a patriotic political button. Wish I knew more about that one

Great buttons Abe. That one bears a resemblance to a Bar Cent. I have only seen one other like that. Here are a few of mine. Obviously, my favorite is the monogrammed "B" button because of my last name!

Ah, a good reason to hold some of my dandies! Removing my GW's and Military buttons from the list was disappointing, but here's the rest.

The enamel and gold cuff button is my favourite cuff.



Two colonial dandies, and yes, that's a Ca. 1820 Brooks Brothers flat button.



A silver plate on brass flat button, hand etched. The other is a machine spun tombac.



My No.2 favourite is a Spanish globes & pillars 1744 1/2 reale facsimile link.



And my favourite No.1 button is this one piece 17th century button. I believe it's silver faced with enamel. It's one baaaaaad girl!

Damn Donnie....for not hunting colonial sites long you e found some incredible stuff. Really impressed with these buttons. The monogrammed B is awesome

Steve those are amazing! That silver and enamel is one of the nicest buttons I've ever seen. You've inspired me to possibly add a couple more lol

Great thread, something that has recently been on my mind to do.

Most of mine aren't as ornate, but a like them a bunch.

That's one of my favorites too man. I have multiple ones, most likely off the same coat. The reconstructed one I found both pieces too about a year apart. I have fragments to a 3rd and maybe 4th (unless from the same button).

Ding, ding! We have a match!!!

This is awesome. In another thread I mentioned a long-cooking idea about trying to match our dandies using a wiki or something to create a database. And I circle back to this thread and see a clear match. Looks like they were found roughly 280 miles apart!

It's a beginning.

Here is mine. I consider a Dandy to be at least 30mm. These range from 30mm to 37mm.

Finding matching dandy buttons is a real thrill for me. So far, I've only found two pairs that match. Also found a tombac dandy, which isn't a common find.

The matching dandies are around 30mm and the tombac is about 32 mm.
