No proof is necessary for any theory.
Just a new place to discuss who you think left something on OI, what you think they left there and why they left it there.
Interested in any and all theories.

Mine is pretty boring. For Oak Island, I will break out the Occam's Razor principle...the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. 1795 is when Daniel McGinnis allegedly came across the depression with the pulley in the tree above. I believe I've also read he (maybe someone else with him) saw people there at night digging and they came across the depression in the ground the next morning. Based on that, my theory would simply be pirate treasure. I think a lot of the 'details' gleaned while digging are either misunderstandings of what they found or flat out fabrications/legends that have grown in the 200+ years of the existence of the story. As much as I'd love to believe it's something fantastical there, I just have a hard time doing so. I 100% believe there are NO documents of any kind buried there. It would make absolutely NO sense to to bury documents that are of super importance and the safeguard for them is a flooding tunnel system. I'll stick with pirate booty/treasure...and it probably was already found if it was there.

My theory: nothing was buried on Oak Island. The stories surrounding the island are nothing more than myth, wishful thinking and tall tales designed to milk money out of potential investors.

A good start so far. Nothing outlandish yet... the basic story - Pirate Booty and the obvious one - nothing there.

I think there was some gold/jewels of some sort buried on the island and that either Samuel Ball and or the original 3 found it.. but keeping an open mind to possibly more treasure being on the island elsewhere..

McGinnis, Smith and Vaughan all appeared to become wealthy after the find of the money pit.
Lumber Barron, Ship Builders and something else I can’t recall.
Ball started as a former slave who farmed cabbage. He later owned a lot of property on and around OI.
So we have at least 4 people who all did pretty good for themselves from OI.
A couple of Pirate Chests for the original 3?
A Military Pay Chest for Ball?
That’s what I kind of believe might have been what happened but I do love to read some of these wild theories! Keep em coming!

i don't think of flooding tunnels as high tech ? Getting over the hurdle of a huge amount of work is another thing....

MANY things puzzle me about the mystery , 1 the depression the "boys" originally found was 10' or 12' diameter with flagstones just under the surface and an old pulley in a tree next to it...to me would indicate a work floor of some sort. 2. Why would it have to be so large if it was pirates burying something... Im a lazy guy , If I was going to bury a 2' square box , my hole would only be 3' square .... get in bury it and move on .. if thats what really transpired , most pirate stories Ive heard have been of the loots being divided up pretty equally among the crew after the captain had taken his share... nothing much ever got buried except maybe the pirates boners The barkeeps and hookers made a killing at the ports they docked at.
3. The flood tunnel myth is just that , the water table is very high there and the bedrock is carstic , full of cracks and voids, so theres water everywhere. 4. The swamp was made by Dunfield putting the road in along the beach because Nolan wouldnt let him bring his equipment across his property to get to the money pit site.. Any claims of ship parts being found there is just a tale to attract investors. 5. Finding wood planks would not be out of the ordinary since there was a sawmill on the island's north end at one time 6. There were mine cars and railroad tracks on the island being used at at least 2 locations 7. Samuel Ball may have found british and spanish military coin stash,,, but why would the army bury the soldiers pay ? Makes no sense to me .

It started with the looting of the Holey lands...



The loot was loaded up into the Knights ships..



Then shipped to a small island in the Americas... Oak Island... Where it was unloaded...



Slaves were brought to help hide the treasure...



These were the ones that dug the pit...



This is what sits at the bottom of the pit...



This is the reason that it was never recovered



Those that hid the treasure are now on bottom of Ocean...

Even a pirate in his right mind would not bury a treasure and leave the apparatus behind that he lowered the treasure into the hole with? Common sense will rule out. Can anyone prove by photographs by earlier digs that there were 9 or 10 levels of 10 feet each. That would indicate Masons. So does anyone have prove of the timbers at 10 foot intervals. Or was it just a pirate recovery of the strong boxes then they left the area. Big difference between a 90 or 100 foot deep hole and a 10 or 20 foot hole? Any proof out there?

It is interesting that when the descendants told the story (the sisters) they said the family legend was that one of the guys saw marks on the limb that looked like a block and tackle had been attached (He knew this because of experience with that type of equipment). If they are to be believed their was never an actual Block and Tackle left there...

oh boy I just can't resist!

The most interesting story regarding that island for me is that it is full of Fool's Gold. Some explorer
mined tons of Fool's gold from Nova Scotia and took it back to Europe - only to find out that it was not real gold.
If he was mining for gold on Oak Island, as some believe - that would explain the underground caverns supposedly on
this island. That would explain why anyone would go to that extreme, digging deep holes in the island - they were
struck by the 'gold bug' and thought they were mining gold. When they discovered it was pyrite - they abandoned their
back-breaking quest.

Pyrite or Fool's Gold was mined at Oak island
"1577: Captain Frobisher's Second Voyage.
The purpose of the first voyage was to explore for a northwest passage to the riches of the Far East. This purpose, in the second voyage, was subordinated to the Queen's order that Captain Frobisher secure and exploit the new found gold mine in Meta Incognita, and then return to England with 100 tons of gold ore for further testing and refining in Bristol Castle and the Tower of London. Wisely, Queen Elizabeth had requested the Duke of Saxony to send someone to London who was a metallurgist and experienced in mining operations. The man sent was Jonas Schutz and that summer he had supervision over the mining operation and the construction of dry docks for loading the gold ore at Oak Island. His management resulted in 160 tons of ore being shipped to London for refining and testing. Frobisher's charter also enabled him to continue his search for the passage to Cathay, but that goal was less important than securing and exploiting the Meta Incognita mine."

In the South, a block & tackle tied to a tree limb is clear evidence that a Chevy 350 was hauled out of an El Camino. Prolly what McGinnis/McKinnis/MacInnes saw. At least it's about as likely as the fable that's been fabricated over the last 200+ years.
