Thanks for your replies, to clarify, I dug the stem shown, had purchased the pipe as a 1600s relic before starting MD'ing, shown for comparison of hole sizes which are the basis for dating clay pipes
Diameter Dates
9/64 1590-1620
8/64 1620-1650
7/64 1650-1680
6/64 1680-1720
5/64 1720-1750
4/64 1750-1800
 

That tag is great. Hope you can find out what it went too. Snowing here a little. Its melting as soon as hits the ground, but its a reminder of whats yet to come. Keep on digging herbie. :icon_thumright:

Certainly a possibility,
it's large size would help keep someone from losing it.
Am doing some research on that Anchor symbol, hopefully i will come up with something. Good to hear from everyone! HH :thumbsup:
