LOL, trading term: means please provide some more information on the finds. Were they found where you found the other shot a couple weeks ago, etc.

Way too crude for musket balls!! They aren't even round and believe me, they had the ability to cast very nice round balls for centuries. Don't know what they're for, what are they made from??

If these were found in the water where waves and currents move them around they could in fact be musketballs that have been worn down and have been exposed to the harsh salt water conditions.

...what ever they are the tails are called casting sprues

found in heavily encrusted.

I dig strips of sprue with the trimmed tails attached to a top lead strip at early sights pretty often. It took me a while to figure out just what they were.
