1776 Spanish Half-Reale !!!! Plus other cool stuff

Acquired permission to hunt this field about 3 years ago. Hunted it off and on and found the occasional flat button. Some of the buttons dated from late 1700's to 1800's by checking the backmarks.

Well last Wednesday I found the spot in this 30 acres that finally showed me where all the flats were comming from. It seems I may have found a homesite or some sort of camp or who knows. There was an old road that ran along the bottom of the ridge that led to a fording but I never found anything along it. Just on this ridge. Found 15 flats on Wednesday and the 1844 large cent.

Well this morning I went back and pulled more buttons out.

Then I pulled out what I thought was another cuff silver gilted button but to my surprise it launched me into the 1700's club.

Yours is from Guatemala. What appears to be a "C" is actually a "G".
The "P" is the first initial in the assayer's name: Pedro Sanchez de Guzman
The coin is .903 fine silver.

Nice job finding the house site. Looks like it was inhabited from the late 1700s to the mid 1800s. Might be more Spanish and perhaps a military button there.

You're right Todd - your coin is very similar to the one I also found recently. Both from the same mint and are holed. Nice find!
