That's it just finds.I think I've lost my sense out this morning in the teens everything frozen. But made myself go. :laughing9: Man the banks were so frozen you couldn't even hardly stand up let alone put a spade in the frozen sand it was just like armor plate :laughing7: :laughing9: :D But I stuck it out seems how I was already there and done what I could under the circumstance.Anyway pic. of what I was faced with, pic.of a tree that had fell over with a barrel ring or mabe a little wagon wheel ring that had growed in the trunk.Finds need working on (cleaning) better. There was a little flat button that had a mark I've not seen *WALLISE* I think is what is on it.Pewter button,2flats,pipe peices, shards, small knife also i think may have a bone handle not sure like I say needs to be cleaned,You can see I guess what's there. Not the best of day's but with the way things were i guess it was alright.Got out and got cold anyway! :laughing7: :hello:

The ground away from the water wasn't so bad.But when you got close to where that water and sand mixed now buddy that was hard. Yea I hear of a warm up! Hope to get on some better material when it does!
Pete, :hello:

You did ok. All I got today was a roundball it was warmer when I went out too. It was 20. The backmark on your button is probably Wallis. William Wallis from Birmingham England. He was in business from about 1790 to around 1825.

That sounds about right for what I was thinking that the site was it came from so you could be right. Thanks Buddy For the help!

hey pete!! i like the first pic. cool looking spot. is that thing a lead line? for taking depth soundings or a window weight? willy

TK,
It's always nice to find those old buttons. I've never seen that back mark either. :icon_scratch:

Not sure buddy, the center piece is what through's me off it seems to me though not heavy enough for window weight, the center piece seems to be made from a material that reminds me of carbon rod from battery cell, molded in concrete but longer then any cell I've seen.I was thinking maybe weight for old decoy but it's kinda large for that too.Net anchor don't think either. So maybe the thought that it is a sounding weight is the best guess.

These are some shots of it closer. Also a shot of a very early I'm thinking late 18th/early19th century barrlow knife perhaps. Was found at the site of the pewter button! http://www.nextek.net/gcarlson/webdoc2.htm
Also the lock plate from a different site was a Yale Junior early for it as well I'd say as far as that type lock was started in 1860's so close to the begining for it.http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/yalelock.htm
