native american artifact

  1. Bannerstone, beach surface find

This surface find was out of my league as a detectorist and beachcomber. When i saw this sitting in the surf on the sand and approached it I was shocked to realize I knew what it was right away. This comes from someone who has never been able to find a complete point of any sort in my 65 yrs of...
  2. Stone with nut cracker hole from Native Americans? Am I correct?

Found in a pile of rocks that were throw to the back of a growing area cleared for debris. Either put there by early settlers or Native Americans. Roll it and it lands upright. Doesn't respond to a magnet.
  3. Please ID this. Scraper, Arrowhead Chipper? Found in a river.

Found in Ohio. It looks to me like it's been worked. Fits perfectly in hand and has a large sharp edge. What is it? Thanks Mike
  4. Native American hand tools/ artifacts or just cool rocks?

Howdy, I’m new member on this site, but long time lurker I love archeology, history, artifacts and apparently rocks ;-) I am hoping you can help me prove to my husband and kids that these rocks are actual artifacts and not just random rocks. They usually make fun of me when I proudly pull...
  5. Carved rectangular stone artifact - Colonial? Native American?

My first post - looking forward to becoming an active member on the site! I found this small stone object last summer on the shore of an uninhabited island in the Chesapeake Bay. Not sure how old it is, or what it is. It looks like a smushed rectangle. Could it be a random artifact from a...

Hi everyone ! I live in SW Florida on the gulf coast- recently I have been finding TONS of stuff on my property while digging and I am not sure which are artifacts, tools, or fossils.. I live near a creek so I think my house may have been put on a native camp site. My tree also has several...

Haven't posted in a LONG while cause I haven't found much besides footprints & brokes! lol I found these few worth posting. The first is what I think is a couple of Knifes? The next I was hoping it was a bead, thought was just another Crinoid fossil but zooming in on it, It looks to have...
  14. Unique

Hi all. I own a ranch in SE Oklahoma rich in Native American, Paleolithic, and Neolithic artifacts. Sunday I returned to an old campsite in the woods I discovered last year.. Recent rains usually reveal new items. Along with much broken flint... I found arrowheads, a motar, nice hand ax. This...
  15. Strange Rock Found in Tuckasegee River

Three years ago I saw what appeared to be a large gold nugget in a shallow section of the Tuckasegee River in Bryson city, NC. Upon picking up the object I quickly realized it was no gold but something far more interesting. I first saw the smooth side with two perfectly semi-circular holes going...
  16. Another treasure that I couldnt take home...

Another treasure that I couldn't take home... Another Indian Ruin site. There are more popular locations about 45 minutes away but this one, as are most of my favorites, are a little off the beaten trail and it deters a lot of visitors. A lot of people don't seem to enjoy hiking through snake...
  17. Scrapper

Probably the biggest scrapper I have. ( not that its very big). You can see some hefty chunks were removed from this rock. Having this big scrapper is cool but I'm really curious what the rest of this stone was used for and more importantly, where is it now? lol btw, I finally got around to...
  18. I wanted it too much

I typically dont hunt in creek beds but this weekend I did. A lot of you seem to have some good luck with it and this area has produced a wide range of artifacts before. I found possibly the most eroded sherd of pottery in my collection so far and flake waste which is all fine and dandy but its...
  19. Possible Native American site???

Alright good people of TreasureNet, I am in need of your help once again. Somewhere in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona is a very large hilltop (locals call it a mountain but it's not). At the base of that hilltop are petroglyphs, extremly common for this area. On the other side of the hill, I've...
  20. Petroglyph Discovery

I've seen lots of arrowheads, flake knives, pottery and the like but I haven't seen too many petroglyphs on this site so I figured I post a few that my friend and I discovered hiding in a canyon in North East Arizona. These are extremely old and extremely hard to get to as it requires a lot of...
