I decided to venture out to VA beach on Wed night last week and got out on the beach right at midnight. Low tide was around 1am so I hit the shoreline for about 3 hours in hopes of picking up some jewelry. I guess it's a bit early in season to hope for that, but I did manage to pick up a few foreign coins along with my crusted clad coins. First thing I pulled up was a lousy Canadian penny followed by $2 Canadian bi-metal coin. Then I hit a 1952 10 Lira coin from Italy and a New penny from the UK. Lastly I picked up a nice looking square coin/token. Didn't know what it was at first, but with the help of "sagittarius98" here at tnet, I was able to determine that it's a 1952 10 Pyas coin from Burma!!! Pretty cool! What that's doing on the shores of Virginia I don't know, but it's a welcome addition to my collection. That was about all the beach gave up for me that night.
I followed that up with a daytime hunt with my buddy Wes and his Uncle Joe. We tried a colonial field that I've been working pretty hard the last few months. Wes ended up with a nice Sons of Union Soldiers cannon badge. Sorry no pic. His Uncle Joe picked up a nice flat button with some scroll work on the back side. Still waiting on cleaned up photos of that one. And I pulled out an 1881H canadian dime. We took the hunt from there to another field that Wes has been working we all pulled a handful of minie balls out of the ground. We had a great time!!!
Happy Hunting!!!
