Is that a German WWII button?
 
First thing I noticed was the German uniform button also. All the digs are nice.
 
I didn't realise for years what they were, then I connected a story of POW's working in the fields & digging drainage ditches etc & put 2 & 2 together. Now these buttons are kept in my collections, as reminders of our history.
