Well todays search so far was mainly just picking up bags to be searched over the next week. :)

Stopped by 3 branches of my new favorite bank today.

Branch 1:
They just opened recently so they didn't have any bags I could buy yet, but they did have a box of half dollars, so I bought that. :)

Branch 2:
They had 4 - $50 bags of pennies to sell me for this week. Also picked up a $200 bag of nickels.

Branch 3:
Picked up another $50 bag of pennies.

So far I have only had time to go through the box of half dollars (need the cash back so I can buy the 4 boxes of halves on order for the rest of the week. ;D )

Ended up with
2 - 40% Kennedy (1967, 1968-D)
1 Post-2001 Kennedy (2003-D)
2 Proof Kennedy (1999-S, 2001-S)

Nothing like coming home with 30,000 coins in the trunk.... :)

Off to the first bag.

I do most of my searching after the kids are in bed or when they are otherwise entertained (video games/TV/friends/toys/etc.) And actually I don't sleep all that much most weeknights which is why I have the time. For example both Sunday and Monday nights I went to bed around 3:30 AM and got up between 7:30 and 8:00. Since I date search all coins, I usually do the equivalent of a box of coins in about an hour +45/-10 minutes (including all stat stuff). And although I have never really timed myself, my gut says that I do nickels the fastest (probably due to the small number of errors I search for in them), followed by dimes, quarters, pennies, and halves. Halves are fast to get the silver but due to the high number of errors I search for, they seem to go the slowest.

Usually have a few hours per night when everyone else in the house is in bed before I go to bed.

The pennies will have to wait for another night as I have to wake up in about 4.5 hours...

Althuogh I am not 100% positive of the error list for halves as I only recently started looking at them myself.

I look for the following (not sure if a couple of the error types exist, but I seem to remember reading about them somewhere)
1971 DDO
1971-D DDO
1972 DDO
1972-D DDO or no initials
1973 DDO or no initials
1973-D DDO
1974-D DDO
1977-D DDO
1982-P No initials
1983-P No initials
1990-P No initials

and here is a link to pictures of a few of the errors.
http://www.numismedia.com/coinguys/top50kenn.shtml

For dimes and quarters I use the list in the above guide as well.

the only nickel I search for errors on is the 2005 Speared Buffalo, can't remember if its a P or D minted coin so I have been looking at both.

For pennies, I look for
1969-S DDO
1970-S DDO
1972 DDO
1983 DDR
1984 Doubled Ear
1992-D Close AM
1995 DDO
1998 Wide AM
1999 Wide AM
2000 Wide AM

If someone has a better listing of common half dollar errors, please correct the above list.

Also just finished 2 bags of the pennies

********************
Bag 1 was good (the only one from branch 3)
********************
28 wheat pennies (1911, 1926, 1929, 1936, 1938, 1940-D, 1942-D(2), 1944(2), 1944-D, 1946, 1946-D, 1947-D, 1948-D, 1950-D, 1952-D(3), 1952-S, 1953-D(2), 1956-D(2), 1957-D(2), 1958-D(2))

27 Canadian (1942, 1945, 1960, 1961, 1968, 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979(3), 1980(2), 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1997, 1998(2), 1999)

********************
Bag 2 was not as good
********************
9 wheat pennies (1941, 1946, 1946-D, 1947-D, 1949-D, 1951-D, 1954-D, 1956, 1957-D)

17 Canadian (1965(2), 1974, 1976(2), 1978(2), 1979(2), 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2005)

I also picked up two of the boxes of halves I had ordered for this week... all 2000-P :P

:) Wow! that's allot to remember to search, I think I'll print this out for a reference. Thanks for the info and the link, that was some pretty nice finds on the pennies. Good luck on the two boxes of half's. :)
Again thanks,
Mike

Finished the last 3 bags of pennies yesterday/today.

********************
Bag 3 was pretty poor (it appeared that about half the bag had been searched as all the wheaties came in the last half).
********************
6 wheat pennies (1946-S, 1952-D, 1953-D(2), 1956-D, 1957-D)

11 Canadian (1964, 1967, 1969, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1985(2), 1987, 1997, 1999)

1 - 2000 Wide AM

********************
Bag 4 was okay
********************
19 wheat pennies (1920, 1941-D(2), 1944(2), 1944-D, 1946, 1946-D(2), 1948-S, 1950-D, 1953-D, 1956-D(5), 1958-D(2))

19 Canadian (1953, 1966(2), 1971, 1974(2), 1980, 1981, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994(2), 1996, 1998, 2000, 2006)

1 blank planchet? <-- not sure but it appears it could be, blank metal of the right size.

********************
Bag 5 was okay
********************
16 wheat pennies (1913, 1941(2), 1942-D, 1944(2), 1945, 1946, 1946-D, 1948-D, 1951-D, 1956-D, 1957, 1957-D(3))

17 Canadian (1948, 1953, 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1981, 1983(3), 1992(2), 1996, 2001, 2002)

The 1913 wheat penny is beat up but it still fills a hole in my book. :D

Tomorrow I get to see how many bags they have for this week. Also hoping to get the dime and nickel bags from the branch that I only got the 1 bag from as it seemed to have a higer percentage of older pennies. Hopefully there is some older dimes and nickels as well. I already passed on the quarters last week, oh well.
