1/2 a box of halves??? Marked coins :/

So I went to the bank and asked for rolls of half dollars. All but 1 were MWR and all the ends with bicentennial halves were marked with a pink marker. I haven't opened them yet but I'm thinking that these were a dump by somebody. This bank always has halves but I've never got silver from them. Do you think I should switch to a different branch in my area?? Or should I keep hitting that bank till I get silver. Thanks, good luck, and HH

If the majority of the coins in those rolls are marked with the pink marker, then you have gotten a machine rolled massive dump from someone else. That only means that you have another collector and dumper in your area. One box is not a large enough sample to be conclusive. And one other collector in your area cannot absorb all the silver by himself.

I would keep ordering, and at the same time, order another box somewhere else. You can use your swing (your money to buy coins) for both of them one at a time.

I have opened many boxes of halves that seemed to have 90%+ the coins marked, and still found a silver here and there, just cause they are marked doesnt mean you wont find anything. (as long as we are talking machine wrapped).

"I haven't opened them yet" - just wondering, how do you half rolls of halves and not open them right away? i sometimes start opening rolls at the bank's parking lot. i have to open them as soon as possible after i get them. just sayin..

The reason I didn't look through them right away was because I'm young and wanted something to do to pass time on a two hour car ride so I thought I'd bring along some halves. Sadly I got skunked. But I still keep my head up high and keep on rolling. I think I'm going to try a new bank where I've had some luck with dimes. So hopefully I can order a thousand in halves soon.
