Hello again,
Tonight was my "non-gym" night, so I brought my disassembled detector, carefully packed in my backpack with all my gear, to work with me. After work (it took FOREVER) I raced over to the park I searched at last. I made my way to this old looking island that is only accessable with 2 old wooden bridges. It is surrounded by a nice looking pond, filled with ducks and canadian geese.
I wanted to get used to my EXcelerator EQ2 DD coil, so I started detecting. Much to my dismay, after about 20 min, I only had 4 bottlecaps and some can slaw. ALL of it rang up as coins. I was getting a bit disappointed, and decided it was enough DD coil for one evening. I was burning daylight, and only had about 40 minutes until I would be left in the dark. I switched coils back to my stock 6 x 9" elliptical, and hoped for the best.
I ended up spending 5-10 min getting to my car and back to switch the coils, so all in all it was more like a 30 min hunt. Is it just me, or did Daylight savings time totally screw up detecting in the evenings? :/
All in all, it wasnt a bad night, for 30 min. I ended up with:
8 - Quarters
5 - Dimes
3 - Pennies
1 - Key
(*) An assortment of bottlecaps, can-slaw, and pull tabs.
The best part is that there is still a large area I havent reached yet. So, this area remains untamed
Also, my detecting has been attracting the attention of some co-workers, some with very very old family homes. I already have 1 signed Metal detecting permission, with about 5 more in the works. Private properties, here I come! Thanks for letting me share my evening!
